Good Afternoon, Fellow Die Hards! I am an author, and longtime Cubs fan, researching a novel. It is set in the Wrigley area, August 1988. The information I'm looking for concerns the atmosphere in the Wrigley area before and after the lights went on, from residents point of view and law enforcement/first responders. Let me know if you or someone else might be interested in being interviewed. This is not a paying gig but those interviewed will be given the offer of being mentioned in the acknowledgements. My email address is phillips1031@gmail.com.

I first fell in love with the Cubbies in 1984. My stepdad was a Cubs fan and I watched every game I could that summer. That fall, I was in 6th grade and my teacher let us watch game 1 of the playoffs against the Padres. I was in Heaven, especially watching all those Cubbies hit homers, even Rick Sutcliffe. I was in Ft. Collins, Colorado at the time. I don't know if my teacher was a Cubs fan or just a baseball fan in general.

Listening to Harry Carey call ballgames is one of my favorite memories of growing up. Things changed when the lights went on in 1988. I was older, in high school, but something about the lights coming on took a piece away from the magic of Cubs baseball.

In 2007, I was working on my first novel. I was thinking about those memories of 1984 and the change that came in 1988 and thought there might be a story. It wouldn't be a nonfiction book about the Cubs but would definitely have Wrigley as the setting.

I love the Cubbies. If Charlotte ever gets a team, they'll be my number 2 but the North Siders will always be my number 1.

No. No daddy issues, although, if "daddy issues" are what you got from my little summary for my motivation, perhaps my writing is a bit above your reading level.

I will. I'm fine with the banter here. Just didn't expect it to sound like an actual bar. Lol

that is never a good idea. You should put in your novel that mods generally become mods to fill some kind of personal void or power-trip deficit

I'm looking. I don't see where to lock and move.
Oh, no. I wasn't talking to you I was talking to the wannabe mod who used to be a mod but was fired for being the worst mod in modding history.

The Bar is fine, if you made this in the Cubs forum @SilenceS would probably move it here lol

If you want some stories about living in a double-wide outside New Orleans and snorting lines of booger sugar off the front butt of a whore named Chardonnay while modding an internet forum, ask @SilenceS

It's ok. I just copied and pasted into a new thread there. I still think I might find some useful stuff here, too.

just a suggestion - the guy you are replying to is already drunk so you don't really need to read/reply to his posts.
