A report that Amar'e Stoudemire is working on a contract extension with the Phoenix Suns is more bad news for the free agency-or bust Knicks.

Stoudemire told Fanhouse.com he is working on a new deal and you have to think that should the Suns advance to the second round - a virtually certainty - that Stoudemire will return.

The problem with pursing big-time free agents is that the home town team almost always has the advantage. Manu Ginobili already re-signed with San Antonio and Marcus Camby re-upped in Portland.

If Stoudemire does return to Phoenix, there is a good chance that either Chris Bosh or Carlos Boozer will end up in Miami. It also means the chances of David Lee returning to the Knicks increases, although the sense is that Donnie Walsh doesn't want to spend more than $10 million per season on Lee.

Again, look on the bright side. LeBron still hasn't re-signed with Cleveland. Not yet.

- This is bad news for the Chicago Bulls because Miami could possibly go all out for Chris Bosh, but Bosh has stated that he doesn't want to be anyone's #2 option or if Bosh does resign, then we will be stuck with Boozer or Lee.

- An other option is we sign Joe Johnson or Dwyane Wade, rethinks about leaving Miami and actually does and signs with Chicago. I think Wade & Rose could make it work and possibly be a contender.

- I hope Amare doesn't sign the extension, therefore Amar'e goes to Miami & we get Bosh.

Instead of Joe Johnson at the max, I would rather get someone like Anthony Morrow or Mike Miller(player on the Wizards, I think that's his name) or Azubuike(sp?). They all can hit the 3 and play defense, minus Morrow.

- I wouldn't mind Wade, but I wouldn't think our summer would be successful, unless Rose & Wade could work it, which they probably could.

What do you guys think of a starting lineup like this:

- Rose
- Wade
- Deng
- Taj
- Joakim

How much wins could we get and would we be a legitimate contender?

Wade is too similar to Rose. I still think we are legit contenders for LeBron

I want Wade. I will be heart-broken if the Bulls don't get him. Jordan and Pippen were similar perimeter offensive players and they made it work. Both will get their shots in the Chicago offense... the Bulls NEED a decent starting Two-guard!

You can always get a decent two-guard, but a super-star power-forward only comes around a couple of times, and here's a chance to get one, why would we not get one? We can always draft Xavier Henry or James Anderson out of the draft, there's a lot of decent two-guards out there.

Well, I believe in getting the best player possible. And I think the best 2 players are (#1) LeBron James and (#2) Dwyane Wade. Stoudemire, Boozer, and Bosh would definitely fill the low-post scoring void the Bulls have lacked for so long, but.... Wade is definitely the best of all of these players.

I think the Bulls should concentrate on finding 3 things:

A) a SG who can move Hinrich to an off-the-bench combo-guard and hit the 3 and get to the hoop (i.e. Wade or Joe Johnson)
B) a three-point shooting Forward (3 or 4-guy; i.e. Channing Frye, Kyle Korver, Jason Kapono, or Peja Stojakovic) that can back-up Luol Deng.
C) a low-post scorer and solid defender that can relieve Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah at the 4-5 positions (i.e. Boozer, Stoudemire, or Bosh)

I think that Frye would be an amazing addition because he would be able to spread the floor at the 4 position. But if we cannot get a 4 like him, I think Boozer is our best option because he would not be as expensive as Bosh and is a pure-powerhouse low post scorer and at least gives a better defensive effort than Bosh. But if we can't get a Joe Johnson or Wade at 2 then the Bulls should go all-out for Amare Stoudemire at PF because he would be the perfect complement for Noah and Taj.

still Wade could leave and then Bosh would be the #1 no doubt...and jmo but i dont see how bosh resigns..i mean he is playing on a team thats not even in the US...has no marketability really(then again bosh is not a marketable player unlike air canada aka vince carter) and most importantly has had barely any success at all...bosh knows that if he is a FA he can get on a much better team and i fully expect him to do so..btw is being stuck with boozer or lee really that much worse than bosh? yes bosh is a very good player but boozer is averaging more rebounds and a few less ppg and is a very underrated player...boozer is really good as well as lee...who is a monster rebounder and has recently added his offensive game..one of the few good white american players left in the game
