How do we feel about the line after these last few games? Bears fans were melting down after the first few weeks. Curious where everyone is now?

Ryan Bates will be eligible to return now. Does he replace Shelton or Pryor?

I feel the same way.

They'll look like shit again the moment we play a good pass rush.

I doubt bates replaces either of those guys. He's a career backup and pryor has played well.

I wasn't really overly impressed with the OL yesterday. There was a couple drives that pocket was collapsing pretty quickly. They should be good enough to get through the year although Minnesota is going to have a day with this group.

Really hoping to see them add at least 3 new starters next year. Would love to retain Pryor as depth on the interior.

As far as bates, I expect him to be a reserve on returning but may take Sheltons job eventually

Shelton had a decent game for the first time all season in London, but it was against the most jetlagged DL he will probably ever face in his life, so am still skeptical it will happen again and the bye week is your last good chance to make a change.

Anyone looks better than Nate Davis. I would consider it an early Xmas present if he spends the rest of the season on the bench.

Braxton Jones has been getting better in the run game.

I want to be disappointed in Darnell Wright but then I remember he only has one good arm these days.

My love affair for Tevin Jenkins is over and if he really is injured, I am curious to see if Murray is capable.

Confidence level right now: 6/10

Loving it. Were tuning up on bad NFL defenses. It's exactly why they gave us this schedule. We will be a monster to defend for any defense from here on out. And to the OP. My feeling have not changed win or loss.

It's the biggest flaw on the team, and next off-season is hopefully the one we finally give it the overhaul it has needed since Poles got here. My confidence in every other area of the team is pretty high at this point, so it is hard to imagine it being neglected again.

I'm optimistic that they will at least play competently enough to not get Caleb killed,

Jaguars have good dline. Allen is good.

They actually dont. Allen is good, walker seems to be picking it up but their pressure percentage is bottom 1/3rd of the league.

They rack up sacks because teams are passing on them 24/7 cause they are so bad against the pass. In reality its a bad dline.

Bears will have plenty of "real" tests coming up. The vikings are the highest in pressure %. 9ers and seagulls are also in the top 10(so are the bears).

The Seahawks are a pass funnel defense. Have you watched them play? The Niners DBs aren’t anything special plus Hargrave is out for the season. They better get pressure because they can’t cover.

So is the pressure % they are putting up a lie?

You can still have a bad pass defense and put up a lot of pressure on the QB. Having a good dline does not mean you have a good pass defense.

Do you think the Seahawks are good on D?

What does that have to do with pressure %? lol this thread is about the oline

As stated, you can still get to the QB regularly and have a shit defense.

Playing turd teams in pressure rate like the jags and panthers dont make me feel more confident about this OL

I still feel the same as I did before the season in that the OL is easily the weak link of the team. I concur that the true test will come again when we play better Ds. CW is still running for his life too much, even against crappy DLs.

Glad to see Davis demoted and I look forward to him being gone permanently. He can't be put in the rear view mirror quick enough.

I really would like to see what Bates can do at center. I am not a fan of Shelton at all. An upgrade there would surely help going forward. I know we'll get a chance to see Murray again because Jenkins will be hurt again. I am surprised they did not rest Jenkins before the bye week and let Murray play.

So many changes are forthcoming to this group in the off season. The Bears are a solid OL away from really being a contender. I just hope CW does not get killed this year.

Worst OL ever! They were so amazing last year, WHAT HAPPENED?

The OL was not that great last year. Fields ran for his life. They were a better run unit though. Improvements were surely needed coming into this season.

To me, it seems like Poles' strategy was purely based on hopium. I am guessing he hoped Jones and Wright would get better due to their age and lack of experience. That was a fair approach with those 2 players. They are both just meh. He had to hope Jenkins could finally stay healthy. That one was risky and has played out poorly. He hoped Davis would be better and earn that contract. Another risky move that did not play out. And, he had to hope Shelton/Bates would be better than Patrick/Whitehair. Shelton is marginally better but not good enough and we are TBD on Bates. Other than replacing the center, he rode the status quo and it has not gone as planned. That said, I am content with Murray and Pryor as backups. Shelton would be a serviceable backup too. Maybe Murray becomes starter material? I am looking forward to seeing him play more.

I am expecting lots of changes this next offseason. There better be.
