Post players who you think the Blackhawks will/should draft, and we will also use this thread as almost an IGT during the draft for anyone looking to chat about the draft while it is happening!

Keep restocking one of the best farm systems in the NHL.

Don't know enough about hockey prospects one way or the other to really know if they can do it this year, but I too am hopeful that the Bowman brain trust can keep the pipeline of young talent open because we need it avoid salary cap hell in the future.

Bowman also said today that the Hawks will draft best player avalable rather than a specific need

When it comes to the Chicago Blackhawks' draft plans, CSNChicago.com reports the strategy is to pick the best player available at the time. Since the Blackhawks are relatively well balanced, making a selection partly based on position could backfire, according to general manager Stan Bowman:

"A team composition can change rapidly based on trades and players coming up through the ranks," Bowman said. "What may be a weakness now may be a strength a year from now. It's dangerous to draft based on what an NHL team needs at the moment. We're not focusing on any particular position."

Sitting with the No.18 pick, Bowman hints he would be willing to deal his top selection -- in one direction or the other -- if a favorable situation presents itself. Otherwise, ESPN.com's Gare Joyce has the 'Hawks picking winger Nicklas Jensen (Oshawa/OHL) in the latest mock draft.

From rumor central on ESPN insider.

Nothing totally new, i just like the BPA approach.

Soupy to Columbus?

I wonder if Colorado is considering him, too since they have moved Liles and Foote retired.
