Why not start a new one now for all things going forward since we're through the draft and off-season will be here sooner than we know.
That's usually how it goes.5 years into a rebuild.....and they're finally committing to a rebuild....
and actually going to play the young guys; allegedly (until they sign 6 more sam laffertys and stick them on a line with bedard, then wonder why hes not developing).
I get that....my point was they should have started the process of playing a ton of young guys at the start of last season not sign guys a bunch of guys like maroon/brodie/Martinez/etcThat's usually how it goes.
Keith was drafted in 2002, which was the ex post facto start of the rebuild. He didn't hit the ice until 2006 and the team didn't look remotely anything like the team that would win 3 cups until 2008.
And keep in mind Keith only had Seabrook with him as a fellow kid. The rest of the D was saddled with guys like Aucoin and Cullimore--not to mention the clusterfuckery up front. Barnaby, anyone?
The other factor on this is that it takes 2 to tango, and with the cap going up a lot of teams do have the cap going into this year to sign guys. Couple that with the fact that this team is a lot like it was in the mid-2000's: No one back then thought the 'hawks would rise to the level they did in the early-to-mid 2010's at the time, so any free agent had to be paid (see also: Khabibulin and Brian Campbell). So, that's working against us.
But really, Laffy Taffy is a depth move, nothing more. A 2M this-year-only 4th liner that can be moved or pressboxed as-needed in exchange for a 6th round pick who will likely never see the NHL? It's fine.
Question: are more threads about the B-hawks going to be allowed this season, or are you still limiting the subforum to posting in one or two threads? Why not start a new one now for all things going forward since we're through the draft and off-season will be here sooner than we know.
There was never a limit to new threads just starting dumb threads or the same thread over and over. Usually a thread wasn't needed because there wasn't enough traffic and it was already discussed in the mega thread. What was decided was to just not start a new gameday thread every time because there wasn't enough interest.Question: are more threads about the B-hawks going to be allowed this season, or are you still limiting the subforum to posting in one or two threads?
I'm becoming good buds with a B-hawks beat writer and may be posting more chit in here if new threads are allowed...
So basically just keep all new posting in this thread. Got it.There was never a limit to new threads just starting dumb threads or the same thread over and over. I will say though that I'm not going to let the forum just be a shameless clickbait self promotion forum. Especially if the quality is as bad as the stuff from one of the resident writers here.
The bulk of their younger players are still 20 or younger. You don’t see many under 20 year old’s in the NHL for a reason….strength. Only the special players like Bedard are given the opportunity to play as 18 year olds but you can also tell he wasn’t strong enough to reach his potential yet. These kids all have puck skills and speed, but they don’t have the strength to go up against guys 10 year their senior and succeed. That’s not how you develop youngsters in the NHL.I get that....my point was they should have started the process of playing a ton of young guys at the start of last season not sign guys a bunch of guys like maroon/brodie/Martinez/etc
Start two years ago and we get Cellibrini and Misa to go with Bedsrd.I get that....my point was they should have started the process of playing a ton of young guys at the start of last season not sign guys a bunch of guys like maroon/brodie/Martinez/etc
