Open thread to suggest ideas for how to improve this forum. Additional sub-forums or get rid of them, how to consolidate threads or invite new topics, etc.

All ideas welcome. Unless you're a troll, in which case BAN BAN BAN.

Instead of the rumors forum, I'd just like a general MLB forum :dunno:

General MLB sounds like it should be outside the Cubs/White Sox forums. The off-topic thread already sort of covers that. We designed the rumors forum because we didn't want the rumors during the offseason and regular season to intrude on other discussions, just trying to see what will happen once games start.

General MLB can be discussed VIA off topic threads in each teams forum or a thread can be made in All Sports Forum

maybe an mlb sub forum..i dont think mlb overall needs another forum..that may deplete activity slightly

i think the cubs writing situation is good(though i dont know much for sure)

one thread for farm system stuff

maybe another for cubs overall offseason and then individual threads for other tidbits like reports, articles, etc.

thats just a start

We're kind of trying to do that. I think I'd try to let some of the threads die down a bit before setting up new threads, but I don't want to suppress activity or anything like that. I just don't want 2000 threads talking about the same thing

The off-topic thread should already take care of the MLB stuff, and we sort of discussed keeping AL stuff in the Sox forum and NL stuff in this forum, but I don't think most people care so whatever.

I agree that segment the baseball stuff even more is likely to result in a decrease in activity in the two forums. It is tough enough given that we have two teams in a town. I think we ought to keep baseball discussions going in the two team forums because in all honesty I really only care about the other things going as it effects my team.

The alternative is that we can simply remove the rumors subforum and stick every rumor in a designated rumor thread. The reason I didn't suggest that to Rush though is that every rumor will engender a completely new line of discussion which deserves its own thread. I also thought that depending on in-season trades, releases, or other transactions, it would cut in to regular season Cubs discussion, so that's the purpose of the rumors subforum is to keep the clutter down some.

Honestly, it's just one extra click to get in, but I guess people don't want to click more than they have to  I'd really like to see what happens in the regular season before we change back though.

So which forum does the Astros league change belong in? :shifty:

I think both because it has an effect on both teams. While I think there is some general thoughts about the move that I would want to share. I really don't think it is an issue that we have two threads discussing a situation that effects both teams like that.

Honestly it doesn't matter to me. We're only responsible for keeping this forum in order though so what the Sox guys do is up to them :)
