it trickles down from the actual team, which most if not all MLB teams do, and that is hype their prospects. So the fans feed off of that. I agree that alot wont be anything special, in the case of the cubs highly regarded prospects there is the corey patterson and Felix Pie shit and to a lesser extent Jeff samirjza (spelling) :) like the sox with fordyce, borchard etc.

Brett Jackson, McNutt, and Archer do seem like impact players though.

We already know Castro is and it's also hard to argue with Cashner.

Ya, Colvin isn't as close to being 5-tool as Castro though.

Colvin has power, speed, and defense. But his big hole is contact.

Ya, other teams are VERY high on the Cubs system, especially after Castro's performance in the bigs.

That logic doesn't make any sense. How does one player's success equal a whole system's success?

It isn't my logic. It's been reported SEVERAL times. I added in the Castro part because teams seemed to have gotten higher on the Cubs system even since his MLB Debut (and gradually more and more).

Not my logic.

That's because of Tim Wilken, not because of Castro.

The Cubs farm system stock went up after Castro was shown to not be a bust and other teams gained confidence in the Cubs farm.

I said it started going up AFTER Castro's debut, what would that have to do with Wilken? We've had him for quite a while longer than Castro. It's because of him that Castro made it, but I was referring to the Castro effect, not the Wilken effect.

That's just it... Castro has nothing to do with it. Castro is the start of all of Wilken's Godliness. It may seem like a Castro effect, but it's not. It's all Wilken, Castro is just the tip of the iceberg.

The players still have to have the tools.

Wilkens has been around what? since 2005 or something? last jan the cubs farm system was ranked 18th.

Yes, the players do have the tools. Which is what I'm trying to say, Wilken picked them, Wilken gets the credit. Not Castro. Castro is just a byproduct of Wilken.

Wilken signed after 06, I believe. Maybe before 06. But right now we are seeing his first big wave of prospects for us. As the players get better and more abundant, our system goes up in the ranks.
