I said I would not ***** no matter which player they selected but I’m not sure I would have been able to keep my promise if they drafted him.

I never really thought they would and I didn’t see Loveland coming either.

It’s crazy but I knew 100 percent when NE was on the clock at 38, that Henderson or Burden was their pick at 39.

When Banks went off the board at 9, I had no idea what was going to happen at 10.

It was pretty apparent to me that Ben wanted a very highly rated offensive playmaker from the get-go.
They tried to move up to get Jeanty and when that fell through it was Warren/ Loveland at 10.
If Poles wanted Banks, he could have easily leap frogged the Saints. It appears competition for Braxton was always meant for a day 2 selection.
Burden was also an easy call after Henderson was taken and after that it was throw a dart against the board and see where it lands.
At least at this point, I like where most of the darts landed.

Maybe take Warren but Loveland is a much better fit... or Nolen. Being assured one of Hampton or Henderson plus more picks may have not been a bad option at that point.

Henderson vs Burden is interesting. You could argue burden has the higher ceiling. I think Henderson on this team makes the bigger impact year 1. I’m more than fine with LB3, though. Still plenty of time to add a RB and I’m sure they will be drafting or signing one next off season.

I personally would prefer Henderson (so pissed when NE took him) and agree he would make the biggest year 1 impact and be what is more needed in BJ's offense after the Loveland pick. I just feel that Burden is going to be a head case especially when he doesn't get the ball as much as he likes. I still see Burden as being more of a gadget guy in year 1.

The Bears didn't consider trading down when they were at 10 so they obviously loved Colston there.
I'm pretty sure they also thought that they could have landed a Judkins/Henderson at 39 as well but that wasn't meant to be.

Completely agree. That they weren't trading up for a T would indicate that maybe they take Loveland even if Banks falls. This board would have gone nuclear.

I personally think Banks being taken at 9 was a curve ball they didn't expect so therefore there was no need to trade up. It seems like more analysts had Banks moving down in the draft. I sure expected him to be there at 10. Totally agree with Judkins/Henderson in the 2nd too. I thought for sure the Bears would get one of them. If Ozzy can be a player and win LT, this will all play out well there but I still would prefer Henderson over WR3.

I'm kinda glad Banks wasn't there. Not that I think it would have been a bad pick but this board would have been unbearable had the bear taken Loveland with banks on the board. Same if they pulled off a Jeanty trade.

It would have made more sense to have named him LB III instead of LB3, because his name is not Luther burden 3.

Then again just “Burden” would seem to be a little clearer, since LB is a position on the field, and we currently refer to third string wide receiver as WR3. (unless we drafted Willie Randolph the third when I wasn’t looking.)

Even still, I bet Ben wanted Loveland instead of Banks knowing they could get their Braxton competition on day 2.
