Thanks @dabears70 and @playthrough2001 (and others) for posting the articles.

and a shout out to @bears26 who does his usual fantastic coverage during the draft as well as @playthrough2001 for his all around wealth of info.

Hey guys, I really appreciate the shout out and the opportunity to share ideas and information with all of you.

We all have the sickness (our love of football and the Bears) and it’s great to have a place where we’re able to exchange our thoughts and opinions on the subject.

I'll be 60 next year, made it out alive from the South Side of Chicago, never been in trouble, and **** cancer.

When I read “MD Anderson bills” in your one of your previous posts, I thought oh shit, I hope he’s alright.

It sounds like you are too which is great news!

I also appreciate being able to have football discussions having people like yourself and many others who don't start slinging names and insults just because of differing opinions. Big boy discussions are fun. I have actually changed my opinions based on information provided. Coming around on TE2 as the draft pick in the 1st was one of them. This was a great thread and continues to be!

just heard Chris Emma mention that he thinks that Ozzie will be the starting RT.
There is a strong belief in Ozzie as a starting OT and he said that he has heard there is serious thought of trying Wright at LT.
The decision of Wright playing LT/RT will be made quickly, no moving Ozzie/Darnell back and forth in camp.
Perhaps Darnell could be a very good RT and just a good LT but that would be an upgrade over last year.

No it wouldn’t. Braxton was at worst an average starting LT and an argument could be made he was slightly above average. There’s a solid chance Wright won’t even match that.

Darnell Wright was a much better RT than LT in college. The logic of moving him to a worse position to accommodate a 2nd round draft pick seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

I don't really believe they are serious about moving him. Trapilo is either going to be a LT or a backup swing tackle as long as Wright is here.

Agreed. Wright has all pro potential at RT. Braxton will be at LT when he’s healthy. If he misses time, it’ll be a competition between kiran/ozz-man

I'm hoping Ozzie can play left and play well...

I am really hoping they do not try the Wright experiment and have a competition between Ozzy and Kiran. I believe Jones is the starter this year and either Ozzy or Kiran will be the LT in '26. If one of them become the starter this year, that is even better.

IDK if anyone knows this—but when Braxon struggled last year, was it on outside or inside play? Will have an upgraded IOL help him a LOT or a little? IIRC there was something about bull rushes knocking him back, but that may be wrong. IDK how he did with edge play.

PFF GRADES

Overall 77.4 20th/140
Pass 80.8 17th/140
Run 70.2 35th/140

His long arms help him to limit the speed rushers around the edge but he still will get beat on the outside if he is trying to overcompensate against a guy that is over powering him.

Having smart IOL will absolutely help him but his weak base still leads to the pocket collapsing as he is pushed into the QBs lap.

I wonder if something as simple as redirecting everyone inside, into traffic/LG would help? Are these traits something that can be improved upon, changed, or not?

Not really an option imo. There are different assignments on different plays and it's not like the defenders won't resist getting funneled in the same direction.

Now that they have Loveland with Kmet, they can dedicate a TE to chip more to assist him on the edge as well as allow the RB to step up on max protection packages.

They should be much improved as well as smarter on the interior. Braxton, Trapilo or Amegadjie will be in much better position to get the job done for the most part this season.

I say let the kid play....if he struggles, you plug Braxton back in. Don't be farting around with Wright at LT. Of course, that's all talk right now. Injuries and pre-season might make the decisions easy for them.
