His injury is similar but more severe to Kiran's, and IIRC both were injured in October.Don’t know if I trust that. Could be agent speak. That’s supposed to be a long recovery injury I heard. But that’s a doctor question so who knows what’s actually accurate

We saw Kiran was not ready by camp. When he did come back he was almost immediately injured by the fact he still wasn't 'ready' or in football shape when he returned.
Simmons is the far superior player as far as college experience and overall play, but the idea he will be a real version of himself come October (let alone next year) is just not realistic imo
I know he doesnt fit Allens traditional mold for a DE but man I think Mike Green is the real deal and would love for him to be a Bear. Explosive and full belt of pass rush tools if you cant find a way to use a player like that then what are you doing.
Really good Dline discussion here. Have to scroll through a bit to get there
Yes and if it weren’t for the character concerns there’s no way he would even be in discussion for 10 because it would be a known fact he’d be gone.I know he doesnt fit Allens traditional mold for a DE but man I think Mike Green is the real deal and would love for him to be a Bear. Except his arm length was measured at 33"was at pro Day and will/should be ready for camp.
- T Josh Simmons (PFF Big Board Rank: 18)
- Height: 6-foot-5
- Weight: 312 pounds
- Hand: 10 3/8 inches
- Arm: 34 1/8 inches
- Wingspan: 81 1/4 inches
- Bench: 34 reps
No no no. I’m so tired of them drafting injured players. He's got all the numbers/measurements you want for a LT but that injury is a hard one to come back being yourself again.
Got it. I think Savaiinaea can play T but that's obviously my very uneducated opinion. I don't really know much about Mbow and i'm pretty sure Milum has the alligator arm syndrome but can't exactly remember his measurements.Savaiinaea and Mbow
Also is no slouch against the run.I know he doesnt fit Allens traditional mold for a DE but man I think Mike Green is the real deal and would love for him to be a Bear. Explosive and full belt of pass rush tools if you cant find a way to use a player like that then what are you doing.
You might hate if you try to find a single person who recovered from a torn patella to become a great player.
Although, the recent ones seemed to have lost ability upon returning (Jimmy Graham and Victor Cruz). Conclusion: Patellar tendon ruptures can occur in otherwise healthy professional football players without antecedent symptoms or predisposing factors. The most common mechanism of injury is eccentric overload. Close attention should be paid to stability examination of the knee given the not uncommon occurrence of concomitant ACL injury. Although this is usually a season-ending injury when it occurs in isolation, acute surgical repair generally produces good functional results and allows for return to play the following season. Players chosen earlier in the draft are more likely to return to play.
Results: Eleven of the 24 injuries had antecedent symptoms. The most common mechanism of injury was an eccentric overload to a contracting extensor mechanism. Physical examination demonstrated a palpable defect in all players. Twenty-two were complete ruptures, and 2 were partial injuries. Three of the 24 cases had a concomitant anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. In 19 of the 24 injuries, the player returned to participate in at least 1 game in the NFL. Players who returned were drafted, on average, in the fourth round, while those who failed to return to play were drafted, on average, in the sixth round. Of those players who returned to play, the average number of games played was 45.4, with a range of 1 to 142 games![]()

I saw somewhere he was over 34" on his pro day. The combine measurements were seemingly crap across the board.Except his arm length was measured at 33"
So this article instills confidence in you? How good were those players that returned? Were they as good or better than before the injury? We're talking high end draft value with Simmons. I have not found a single top end player in the NBA or NFL that had a torn patella. The only guy I found who even played much was Morris Claiborne who had an average career being constantly injured and playing on life long 1 year deals. He never quite lived up to being the 6th overall pick. I can't find an all-star... pro bowler... all pro... nothing. Everyone is a journeyman at best after that injury.![]()

Because of his injury he has not been able to put in any work. Hell, he just came out of the boot a weel ago. Also, because of injuries Jones has missed 11 games over the last two seasons. Risk does not match the reward for the 2025 season. Campbell or Banks at 10, don't think Membou will make it that far. It’s a contract year. He’s putting in extra work to come back strong.
Copied and pasted. No idea what's correct.Except his arm length was measured at 33"

Lmao from the article you shared.
They noted successful return as participating in 1 game in the NFL. Nice!
Do not understand the Simmons deification. He's a fourth-year guy. Campbell, Membou, Banks, & Conerly are all three-year guys. They'll all go in the 1st round, with Campbell & Membou going in the top 10. If Simmons came out last year, as a three-year guy, he'd probably have ended up being an early day-3 pick. Essentially, his NFL 1st round-worthy resume is the first five games of this year, against the likes of Akron, WMU, Marshall, Mich. St., and Iowa. After he gets hurt, Donovan Jackson swings over from G to play LT, and does a really solid job there. So maybe its not that hard to play LT on a team with ~15 guys about to get drafted. Sorry, just don't see Simmons as the second coming of Joe Alt that some people apparently do...
