Is that CCS vision?
He has 34" arm length I believe, he was primarily a RT in college and does seen like a player that might be better at guard. With that said I have always thought he was a good 2nd round option for the Bears.

Your posts the last several days have definitely made me hesitant on wanting Campbell. Very convincing argument. If you’re a scout, would you put your reputation on the line vouching for a guy with 33 inch arms and a 77 inch wingspan when the facts are
1. There are zero current OTs in the NFL with those measurements
2. There has never been a pro bowl LT with those measurements
Beyond that, I think his on field play has been really overrated. Think it’s more good than great, but those measurements are just a killer. He should fall, but teams do dumb shit all the time.

The one thing I’m curious on is your opinion that his play is more good than great. Seems like most people think his play has been outstanding, but they are just worried about his arm length and wingspan. Why do you say it’s more good than great? Is it his PFF grade?
Interestingly enough, I just watched a podcast with Nate Tice and his dad Mike Tice, and Mike pointed out a couple of things I already had concerns about. Specifically, he questioned his overall strength and pointed out that because of his high stance, that is a bit of "extra fat" in terms of additional movement. However, doesn't necessarily think it's a huge deal. That said, he thinks he's worth giving a shot at LT if your team doesn't have one, but sees him more of a RT in the NFL. Also said that because of the strength concerns, he's not sure if he could play OG. I also had questions about his strength, so it was very interesting to hear Mike Tice say the same thing. Btw, I highly recommend watching the podcast if you can...they break down a lot of the OL prospects and Mike had several OL prospects ahead of Campbell. Nate is higher on Campbell than his dad, FWIW.
You also brought up Campbell's PFF grade, and yes, I do look at that as part of my "evaluations." While it certainly shouldn't be treated as gospel, I do believe it's a useful tool, especially for OL/DL players, IMO. I view it similarly to PER in basketball. You can't just look at it on its own, but I do think there's merit to it, combined with actually watching the player. Campbell was graded a 72, which is fine, but it's underwhelming for a LT prospect being talked about as a top 5-10 pick with his arm length/wingspan measurements. Banks Jr for example, who also played in the SEC like Campbell graded out at 86. That's a significant difference. Conerly Jr, who played in the Big Ten, graded out at 78. Membou, who played in the weakest conference of these guys graded out at 90, so Campbell has the lowest PFF grade of all the other top OT prospects.
When you combine it all together - The on field play, the lack of strength, the arm length/wingspan/outlier concerns, the PFF grade etc., I just don't like him as an option for the Bears.
Thanks. Hopefully someone in the top 10 takes him so that we don’t have to worry about it. I think I’m at a point where I want either Mason Graham (unlikely), Jalon Walker, or Will Johnson. Maybe Membou if we think he can play LT. If all of those guys are gone, I’d want to trade down.Interestingly enough, I just watched a podcast with Nate Tice and his dad Mike Tice, and Mike pointed out a couple of things I already had concerns about. Membou plays in the SEC fwiw. He's a hard evaluation for bears though because can he play LT. I'd probably take a chance because his upside is huge and his downside is slotting in as a great guard next to Wright if he can't handle LT. He's an incredible athlete and has great power too. He's really intriguing. Likely gone before 10 anyway
Your incessant complaining about how shitty Campbell is at LT is really all for naught as he will be gone before 10 so cheer up!

The interesting thing is who will be available at 39 and 41. There are so many players who will be “likely gone” by 39, but that probably means somebody has to drop. Kiper had us taking Walter Nolan at 39. I’d be thrilled if he was available.I also would love to trade down but don't think it's very realistic. I'm hoping for something like this in the first two rounds.
10. Ashton Jeanty
39. Jonah Savaiinaea or Donovan Jackson
41. Princley Umanmielen or JT Tuimoloau

It's been a good conversation and you've brought up good points. I may not be Miek Tice's biggest fan, but it's good to have another perspective.I thought I was having a pretty good conversation with @DaBears3434. Maybe he'll be gone by 10, maybe he won't be. Like I said in my previous post, but Mike Tice has several OL ahead of Campbell, and he actually evaluated OL for NFL teams when he was coaching. I don't think it's a lock he goes top 10.

One thing I saw this week, and honestly wonder if I read it right since it's not been brought up in discussion - Simmons, who was considered a very good OT prospect before the injury has arms as short as Will Campbell. Did I dream that? Its not mentioned.
I just found it odd that Campbell is written off by some due to arm length, while Simmons' possibility of recovery from patella tendon surgery is a topic if discussion, while Simmons also has T-Rex arms.Yeah, 33. Inch arms for Simmons but he has a longer wingspan (82 inches). That said, the knee injury and the character concerns are too much for me. I wouldn’t touch him in the 1st round.
