They ran a lot of 12 but only targeted the #2 tight end 16 times.

Cronin is very knowledgeable about football and the Bears. As much knowledge or more than any of us do.

She said they ran the 3rd highest 12 man in the NFL last year.

I'm with you. After pick ten, the Bears have 39, 41, 72, 2026 Free agency and draft, the option to evaluate Braxton and Kiran for a year, and the option to tag Braxton next year. I don't see those dire need to reach at 10 for a LT.

If you think Banks will be a very good LT, it’s a no-brainer pick. If you think he will be average at best, it’s not a good use of the 10 pick.

Hell, I’m not even sure most of the people who think he should be the pick believe he will be a very good LT. Just they should take him because he’s a LT and he would be good insurance if Braxton isn’t ready quite yet. I don’t agree with that logic. Honestly, I don’t think there’s that much of a drop off between Banks and a guy like Ersery.

One of the reasons why i have DE/Pass Rush as my top need for the Bears.

He's under 210. Swift weighs more. Hampton or Johnson as load back and Swift can be the change of pace. Jeanty is shorter and weighs more. I prefer Tuten for a James type back and expect him to go a coupe rounds sooner. I prefer Cosby-Merrit but expect him to go later due to lack of play.

He might weigh less but he runs much harder. It's not only about the weight when talking RB types.

You and some others evidently believe they absolutely have to take that LT in the first round this year. And that is the only way they can shore up the position. If you think Banks will be a legit great LT, great. That would be smart.

What if Banks can’t even beat out Braxton this year and it turns out he just isn’t anything more than an average LT at best? And then they are still constantly looking to upgrade the LT position despite using the 10th overall on it?

How is that “supporting their young QB properly?”

Idk about tagging Braxton around $25 million. Bears currently have about $41 million in cap next year.

That's before edwards extension is added in, so probably close to 33ish million. Then you got the draft class this year. Plus they probably need to restructure some contracts this year to fit in the draft class and in season moves which will push money to next year.

Then you also need to think about extensions for billings and thuney. Obviously they probably cut swift and Edmunds, but cap could be tight next year if they don't get creative.

I just respectfully disagree with you on this one. I don’t at all agree that taking an average T at 10 makes sense and is a good use of that pick.

I get it but when someone says they took 5 guys that can bump inside if they can't be Ts, it has a different meaning.

What are you talking about? If I need a LT and keep drafting them and they keep failing, that’s not a good thing. That’s 4 shots taken in 5 years and none start yet and we can’t know if any will start.

And, they only need one guard with Thuney gone. So that’s three day 2 picks there and maybe another coming this year, and still not clear if they’ll find a starting tackle. How can that be framed in a good way? At best one becomes a guard. People give Poles crap for his picks. Imagine he picks an OT every year and can’t get any to start.

I was merely playing your hypothetical and laying out the reasons both financially and longevity of why it still could make sense to make that pick at 10. Not to mention assuring Caleb is protected this season when you consider jones isn’t guaranteed back to start the year and Kiran is a major project

DJ had his pre draft national call in today asking him questions and he addressed the Pats at 4.
He said they HAVE to go LT and believes it will be Campbell.
He also said that he spoke with 3 teams and one liked Campbell, one liked Membou and the other liked Banks best.
Mcshay had his OL podcast and said that all his nfl peeps he spoke with thinks its Cambell...... then Membou/Banks.
I've recently heard the Raiders could go OT at 6, imagine if they did and the Jets also did at 7.
That would mean all 3 would be gone before 10. OT's go quick and there could be an early run.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and its 6 days before the draft so buckle up boys.

I wouldn't be shocked at all. If it does fall this way we might not even have a chance at Ersary in the 2nd. It would mean we probably have a shot at Jeanty though.

It all comes down to how people project Banks as a pro. You do not think his ceiling is just an average LT. Fine. I absolutely think that and that is being generous to Banks.

I thought Kiran was a horrible pick.

I would have no problem with them taking Ersery or even a guy like Milum and putting them out there if Braxton isn’t good for game 1.

We just disagree on Banks as a player. I do not think he will be a good NFL T. If I’m right and the coaching staff feel keeping Banks at T will get Caleb killed and Braxton walks, how do you feel about them using 2 consecutive 1st round picks on a LT with one of them just being a backup G or T?

Just forward that video onto Poles in case he forgot about Braxton’s injury due to his bad memory. Remind him that video turns Banks into an elite LT prospect that should be taken at 10. Even if the whole staff is not very high on Banks, that video of another player getting hurt should change their minds about Banks if they’re not as high on him as you are.

You’re missing my stance here. I’m not Banks or bust. I just want the position addressed. There’s several good OT’s in this draft. If the top two options heading into the season are Kiran and Peg Leg then I will be pissed

I agree with you. I have a suspicion that Banks will be there at 10 and that he will not be the pick, and they will take a OT in round 2 who they feel also has G flexibility and can serve as a fallback in case Braxton isn’t ready for the opening game.

If that happens, that will tell all of us how Roushar, Johnson and Poles projects Banks as a LT in the league.

If people are thinking we should trade up for defense and that the OTs are going to be gone before 10 then the same people should be at least toying with the idea that we trade up for OTs.

Really we shouldn't trade up. OT, RB, TE or DT, or even Edge (like a 2 pick reach according the the board I trust). Someone we could use will be there at 10.

I like Banks. Would love the pick. But I completely trust Roushar.
