Post up what you have gifted to others, or received yourself during the Holidays.

Now that I'm 23 it seems the true gifts start to go down and my wallet gets bogged down by gift cards but I shall report back.

Still trying to figure out what to get my SO, went with a simple Victorias Secret gift card. I want to get an iPad (since it'll be technically for me to use as well) but they only have the 64 GB and I want the 16GB.

I think I went a little over this year but I hope its worth it when i see my family's smiles.

First off for my mom I got her an Ipad 2 (she can live without the retina screen and a6 chip) with the screen protector, keyboard and case and a macy's card. For my girl, she will be receiving a michael kors bag (ugh) and some of her fave chocolates and starbucks crap. For my big bro since he loves films I bought him the Special Edition of E.T on blu ray (his favorite movie as a kid) and the 1st season of Game of Thrones, which he has never seen but I'm sure he'll love since. My sis will be receiving 8 gb of RAM (for her 2gb macbook) and a forever21 card.
Other people (close friends, extended family) I got them cheap things like gloves, flashdrives, beanies, scarves etc.

All the electronics I bought at best buy and got the employee discount :smug:

Honestly I don't care what I receive, I'm cool with anything. I can really use some new boxers though and I'm running out of my favorite cologne.

How significant is the other?

a) You got her a gift card, which indicates no thought at all.
b) It was to Victoria's Secret...which could easily be interpreted as a gift for yourself (even if she doesn't say it).

Try to figure out something else in addition to that, that requires a lot of personal thought (e.g. you "get her") and probably doesn't cost a lot of money. Or just buy that ***** a vacuum cleaner. Either way.

coolest gifts I'm giving:
Niece gets a bunch of Disney Princess stuff that she's gonna love.
Younger sister gets $50 in 100 sealed envelopes she'll have to unseal. All will have something in them, very few will have money in them. b/c i'm a dick. and it will be
Dad gets one of those topsy-turvy tomato planter things.
Mom gets a new camera.
Grandma gets one of those electronic picture frames w/ several pictures already D/L'd to a jump drive.

Got some other good gifts...but pickin's were slim this year w/ us buying a house a few weeks ago.

I give cash to all of the Christian members of my family. The atheists get nothing, and the agnostics get lottery tickets.

Danielle and I are buying a new living room suite as a 'mutual gift,' although we won't have it until a few days after Christmas. Got my sister a new laptop bag, got my dad a new Bears sweatshirt and a tuner for his guitars, got my mom a new jacket and keyboard for her iPad, got my brother-in-law a new gaming mouse, and everyone else got some kind of gift card.

As for what I'm getting -- I have no idea. Probably gift cards and some stuff for around the house.

This is a tight year for us. Took a job I love but it came with a 30% pay cut.

My girls are getting books, pj's, a coupleof board games, some candy, and a trip to the movies
My wife and I are only allowed each year to exchange ornaments. It's a contest where my wife is the judge. I've lost every year. :)
We do a grab bag where the goal this year is to get closest to $15.08 without going over. My BIL is getting a Bears Keychain after takes and delivery came out to $15.02

That's the majority of things this year. What will I get? Best gift of all, time with the family.

I ran into financial aid trouble for school, so I had to pay an unexpected couple of thousand dollars for the semester... and I have some monthly payments that I can't be late with. I can barely afford to buy myself gas each week... I don't think I can afford to buy anyone anything unfortunately.

And unless someone shocks me, I'm likely getting nothing haha

Same thing happened to me, except I pissed away the extra money I had from school...literally. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO4tIrjBDkk"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO4tIrjBDkk Even though I work full-time, traveling to Chicago itself for the holidays is expensive enough. Gifts will have to wait, things are very tight.

Dad- Got him a new bears windbreaker and a pair of bears gloves

Mom- Bought her a coffee mug with music notes design on it, Barnes and Noble giftcard, and an Illinois shot glass as I was just there. (she collects one from every state, don't worry she's not an alcoholic)

Sister 1: Bought her a Shirt and Bag from the Art Institutes gift shop and got her a Drake coffee mug (her college)

Sister 2: I bought 2 introduction to jazz piano books, as she is 10 and plays Piano, Oboe, and Viola, I would like to get her going on Jazz Piano because it's very hard to develop a jazz pianist these days. I think she can do it

As for what I'm getting, who knows. I asked for a lot of drum equipment so I can carry around my drums when I have gigs safely. I'll report back with what I got next week I suppose
