It's MUCH more complicated than just the greed of the oil companies.
Hell, Oil companies are publicly traded stocks, and your bank accounts, investments, funds, and everything benefit from this "greed". Regular people are greedy, and it's regular people who are buying low and selling high throughout the laws of supply and demand. There really isn't much abnormal greed within the companies themselves, unless you are referring to the individuals who risk their own money(which includes rich and poor.) Just like the "greedy" democrats who are padding their interest projects in inefficient mass transport solutions and hide within the union support groups. Just like the "greedy" republicans who pad their special interest in ethanol, but hide behind the corn farmers . And both are politically funded by oil companies equally, if not entirely equal, the shift will happen to offset the balance from democrat back to republican dominated funding, like it was 4 years ago, or like it shifted before that 100 times over between parties.
Oil prices create a circle of cause and effect, and the solutions don't sit within Washington, Libya, Iraq/Iran, OPEC or the big oil companies that run them. The solutions sit within the solutions of spreading a more efficient means of productivity. Hell, I know a lot of people who could do their work from home. I know a lot people who should grow their own garden, and a lot of people who could learn to consume far less energy than they do. That's just the tip of the iceberg. But until we see this reality of why it's so damn stupid to work 30+ minutes away from home, deurbanize communities, and over regulate zones, how the hell can anyone compete. You're stuck having to take jobs far from home, you're stuck paying for gas, you're stuck trading in gas guzzlers for vehicles that make more economic sense, and you're never going to have some magical genie come out of a lamp to make your boo-boo's go away.
I'm sick of perception on hot topics becoming reality. We need accountability. And people are damn afraid of it, because so many every day, regular joes are scared to take the blame.
