I have another offer I'm mulling over. I can't decide if I'm getting the short end of the stick here.

Remember it's NL-only rotisserie format with the categories being: offensive- BA, HR, R, RBI, SB. pitching- ERA, K, WHIP, W, Saves

My team is in direct rebuild mode, and I'm looking to get young and CHEAP talent.

I Send

Cliff Lee ($49 @ x years, guy could tender him up to 3 years with his salary increasing 3 a year, but with a cap at 260...he's more than likely to throw him back to free agency)

David Wright ($39 @ 1, meaning he's a FA at the end of the year)

Marlon Byrd ($14 @ 1, FA after 2011 in our league)

I Get
Matt Holliday ($4 @ 2, meaning I get him the rest of this year and NEXT year for $7)

Jason Heyward ($4 @ 2, same as Holliday)

Bryce Harper (0 @ minors, meaning he costs me zero, and I don't tender him a contract until the year AFTER he gets the call to the majors)

If this trade goes through, my roster would look like this going into next season's auction:

C-
C-
1B- Brett Wallace ($4 @ 3yrs assuming he pans out to be what he's touted to be)
2B-
3B-
SS-
CI-
MI-
OF- Matt Holliday ($7 @ 1yr)
OF- Jason Heyward ($7 @ 1yr)
OF- Chris Young ($10 @ 1 yr)
OF- Domonic Brown ($4 @ 2 yrs assuming he pans out to be what he's touted to be)
OF-
Utility-

Minors: Bryce Harper (until he gets called up, and he'd cost nothing)

*Players I would have the option of keeping or dropping are Orlando Hudson (cheap, but needs to produce), Justin Upton (would be VERY expensive), Stephen Drew (would cost 22 next year so mehh), Ty Wigginton (dirt cheap, but he's gotta get PT for the Rockies first), Alex Gonzalez (needs to produce first)

SP- Adam Wainwright ($4 @ 3 yrs, picked him up for a buck in this year's auction ;) )
SP- Tommy Hanson ($10 @ 1 yr)
SP- Johnathan Sanchez ($10 @ 1 yr)
SP- Matt Garza ($17 @ 1 yr, assuming he produces)
SP-
SP-
SP-
RP- Mitchell Boggs ($4 @ 3 years, assuming he continues to close games for STL)
RP-

So that roster would cost $73 (if Garza is good) or $56 (if Garza sucks), with a cap of $260 during the auction. Meaning, I'd have Cap expands to $325 after the start of the season to allow rebuilding (like I'm doing) and loading up for a run at the money.

I think it's fairly even. So it's a toss up.

Yeah, I know...rough...I took over this team in this league just this year. I took them over after the guy WON the league with a ton of high dollar players he couldnt keep, and knew he's suck for a couple years so he quit and I took them over. I think I'm accelerating the rebuild process though. Getting Wainwright for a buck was huge, I need to get something out of Billingsley, Lee, Wright, Byrd, Upton, and maybe Garza.

Right now my team is. I think there's a slim chance this team could finish in the money. It's a 10 team NL only league. But I think this offense is lacking hard. I LOVE THIS PITCHING STAFF (even with Wainwright and Zito on the DL). You'd be hard pressed to find a better NL-only roto staff.

C- J.R. Towles (better to have a backup catcher with some pop than a terrible defensive minded starter)
C- Jose Morales (ditto)
1B- Ty Wigginton
2B- Orlando Hudson
3B- David Wright
SS- Stephen Drew
MI- Alex Gonzalez
CI- Brett Wallace
OF- Rick Ankiel (yuck)
OF- Ryan Ludwick (yuck)
OF- Chris Young
OF- Justin Upton
OF- Marlon Byrd
U- Willie Bloomquist

SP- Cliff Lee
SP- Chad Billingsley
SP- Tommy Hanson
SP- Johnathan Sanchez
SP- Matt Garza
SP- Livan Hernandez (because I bid Adam Wainwright for a buck when everyone had filled their rosters, and he had to occupy an active spot on my roster...by the time I DL'd Wainwright, Livan was all that was left)
SP- Joe Blanton (when Zito got hurt, and purely because he plays for the Phillies and they get run production)
RP- Clay Hensley (I hope Leo Nunez crashes and burns so Hensley can get the closer's job)
RP- Mitchell Boggs (yay for dropping Evan Meek and picking him up 2 and a half weeks before Franklin crashed and burned)

Injured/Minor League Pitchers:
Adam Wainwright
Barry Zito
Christian Friedrich (#47 prospect in baseball, Rockies)
Yunesky Maya (Cuban defect that the Nationals swallowed up last year, he's old but they think he would be a good 3rd starter in that rotation with Strasburg and Zimmerman)

Injured/Minor League Hitters:
Domonic Brown (#2 prospect in baseball, injured, should be back next week)
Zack Cozart (power hitting prospect SS for Cincy, long ways out on his arrival)

Holiday, Heyward and Harper is a nice haul...but accepting that deal pretty much waves the white flag on your season, imo....your pitching is your clear strength, and trading away your best overall player, who happens to be a pitcher, and arguably your best position player at a premium position...you'll struggle to win games. But, in a franchise-style fantasy game, it's a solid move to build for "next year"....

I get so tired of that last phrase... :(

It's roto, where everyone's stats pile together and accrue over the whole season. You get 10 points for finishing first in a category. 1 point for finishing last in a category. There is no "opponent" each week.

BA, HR, RBI, R, SB

W, K, ERA, WHIP, Saves

those are the categories.
