OK, I keep seeing analysts carry on about having the most max guys being what matters most. So, lets say Miami is able to unload Beasley and can then accommodate 3 max FAs. And lets say those are the big 3: Wade, James, and Bosh. Those 3 alone would cost 49-50 million dollars. That would leave 6-7 million to fill out their roster. With that kind of limitation, who would you find to help Bosh rebound?
Since rebounding is such a big part of the game, is it enough to have Wade, James, Bosh, and some scrubs?
I keep seeing people talk about it like its all about signing the most max guys without considering theres more to it than that.
One thing Ive heard is that Wade and James could handle the ball. OK, fine. You could probably do that and spend a few million on a shooter but then give everyone else minimal salaries. But youre still lacking rebounding.
Chicago led the league in rebounding last year. I doubt Bosh wants to shoulder the entier burden of rebounding. To find someone with numbers comparable to Joakim, youd have to get someone like Marcus Camby who makes 8 or 9 million. Miami only has 6-7 million of cap room in their 3 max player scenario. We have Noah on a rookie contract at a little over 3 million. Then add that we also have Taj who averaged 10 rebounds and 12 points per 36 minutes to spell Bosh at the power forward. And we also have Omer coming on board.
Im actually a little surprised that Pat Riley would go about it this way given the potential issues that Ive identified above.
