I know there will be a GDT closer to the day, but I just got in town with my dad and stepdad and want to know where/when we need to be places on Opening Day/Night to make the most of the experience.

Any tips?

1. Get there Early !

The Chicago Blackhawks are set to raise the 2013 Stanley Cup championship banner at the first home game of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 1, before they take on Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network and WGN 720.

Here is all the information you need to know before coming out to the Opening Night festivities.

2013-14 OPENING NIGHT SCHEDULE

sharp-red-carpet-325.jpg

3-5:30 P.M.: Madison St. closed (Between Damen St. and Wood St.)
3:30 P.M.: United Center parking lots open
4:15 P.M.: Players arrive at Red Carpet by Text-Enhance">Event
5:00 P.M.: United Center gates open
6:30 P.M.: Be in your seat for banner raising

4:15-4:30 p.m.: The red carpet is rolled out for Blackhawks players as they arrive for the first game of the season. Get a high-five from your favorite Blackhawk as he makes his way down the runway.

[*]5:00 p.m.: The United Center will open the gates for the first regular-season home game of the 2013-14 campaign. Remember, with most home contests slated for a 7 p.m. start, allow plenty of time to explore the activities on the concourse in order to get back to your seats for the action to begin!

[*]Fans are encouraged to be seated by 6:30 p.m. for the Banner Raising Ceremony. The ceremony in 2010 was spectacular, so the 2013 by Text-Enhance">event will be one for the books!
[/list]

Hope this helps

Expect a circus.

I have heard there will be xylo bands on the seat for you to put on your wrist. Those are wristbands with LED lights that are controlled remotely to blink or whathaveyou.

Bring a rubber chicken and a turkey baster to use on any sweatertucker who chants, "LET'S GO BLACKHAWKS <clap!>...<clap!>...<clap!><clap!><clap!>.

Chances are, you'll probably be crying... Bring some extra kleenex with you... the toilet paper in the bathrooms are likely of Scott quality. They won't be 2-ply...

As long as the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 160º...nothing.

I too have no answer for the baster.

Like a fire axe, those are the tools of a madman (after all, who else would attack a flame with a blade?), and also like any tool wielded by a madman, it's all up to your imagination. I'm sure that any fan who's ran into another fan who uses the lets go blackhawks will have a sufficient drain of their sanity to give the spark to their imagination of to the many creative ways a turkey baster can maim a sweatertucker.
