As sickening as it is, molestation doesnt legally constitute as a crime against humanity. I agree that its a publicity stunt.

No, but I think the covering up and trying to hide the facts year over year do. Especially when you figure in it was one of the largest religious organizations in the world.

Turn a blind eye and let it continue. I think that would be against humanity. Maybe not.

In Rwanda the bosnian-serb conflict, and multiple others, rape was admitted as a crime against humanity in international court. And im sure priests have done plenty more than just grope some pre-pubescent boobies and crotches.

Slippery slope. If this ever goes through then any religion could be brought up on the same charges. Charge the individuals, not the organization.

who would you be shooting if it was your child raped/molested by one of the 100's of Catholic Priests? Although most were little boys so you are/were safe.

I agree Biscuit. Very slippery.

They did list particular individuals, of which the pope was one.

I forget where I read it but the "Pope" supposedly knew all about it. Like the rest of the organization tried to "hide" it. As they do with everything they've been responsible for through out history.

trust me i know....my family is from croatia and bosnia. However, different situation. That was a conflict and such was done at a time of war. It was actually sanctioned. Id they can prove that the vatican gave the orders to touch children, then ok. But they didnt.

But their listing is directly to the top and not those that actually caused the issue. That always infers the overall. I don't blame any of them for being pissy and shooting the moon, but if it is ever heard it just opens a huge can of worms that can even include non-religious entities. The thing is, unless the Pope or Bishops directed those below them to rape young boys, it is not a crime against humanity toward the Pope or Bishops IMO. Just a failure to make public, or at least to those scorned, the reprimand.

I do agree, but something needs to be done about the soft hand the vatican uses to punish these people, which generally includes no punishment whatsoever. They should be immidiately expelled when these activities are discovered no ifs and buts or coconuts, but they seem rather more determined to cover up and try to save face.

No, but covering it up after the fact isn't just as bad?

I do agree something should be done, but I think this is a bit too radical. Honestly, how much does the gov't cover up or even big business that are just as destructive to peoples lives...should that not also be pursued in the same manner?

The reality of the matter is they they should have never been allowed to enact their own punishment...but shooting for the moon is almost always frivolous and just for the attention. Blowing the wad too much.

Im not saying its not bad, but it does not legally consitute a "crime against humanity" in the international court..
