If Tampa makes the 8 spot, Stamkos wins the Hart easily.

I think it is Malkin's to lose right now, even if Tampa makes the 8 spot.

Currently Malkin/Stamkos have 84 points each, Malkin has done it in 8 less games. I do think that while the Pens are definitely a better team, Malkin is more valuable to his team than Stamkos.

I like Malkin for it because the Pens have had a whole lot of injuries to deal with. Crosby, Letang, others. Without Malkin I think that team is in deep shit.

I think the Lightning stick around where they are because I think St. Louis is a big part of what motors that team. Mike Babcock was asked last year about containing Stamkos and he made a comment that it is St. Louis that makes that team run and is the one they have to be worried about.

Malkin makes things happen on his own, while Stamkos is a complete snipe show that finds the soft spot in the ice...but he usually has to have someone dish him the puck. Really nothing wrong with that overall except if talking MVP, but I really do think that without St. Louis you see Stamkos dip in goals because Stamkos isn't the type of guy that has the puck on his stick for very long in a game. St. Louis is one of the most underrated players in the NHL in my eyes, doesn't get the credit he deserves.

I will also say that Malkin seems to elevate his teammates more so than Stamkos does.

Just my opinion based on what I have seen.

in most cases every high goal scorer has someone that is pretty good at dishing the puck. if he is on the pens, he scores 50, if he is on the hawks he scores 50...almost every team he would be on he would score 50.

I don't want to argue against Malkin because he's frickin GOOD and if Tampa doesn't crack the top 8, the Hart is his without question.

But Stamkos is right up there with Malkin and in the case of the MVP talk (and the old debate about what it really means). I'd give it to Stamkos if he can pull that team into the playoffs despite its shit goaltending situation and sizable hole they had in the standings because of said goaltending. St Louis can be the motor, but a motor alone doesn't put you on it's shoulders and take you somewhere.

As for Stamkos being a complete snipe show... sure, but just saying that is doing a huge discredit to his game. He's gotten incredibly strong this year. Just physical strength.. the guy has grown. And as much as his shot and his goals are his signature, whenever he has the puck, D reacts. Mainly they back up if he's coming. They give him space because everyone knows he's that deadly with it.

Heads up who's a better player- I'd give it to Malkin now. MVP if Tampa gets into the playoffs- Stamkos. Different things.

Who discredited Stamkos because of St. Louis?

I'm simply saying that St. Louis makes Stamkos a lot better. Stamkos is still a top 10 forward in the NHL, no doubt.

I don't think there is anyone on the Pens that really makes Malkin better like that, where as Malkin makes everyone around him look a lot better than they are.

To me that is why Malkin would be the MVP.

I'm with ya. Stamkos has an amazing scoring touch, and St. Louis is doing an incredible job of maximizing it's potential.

Malkin is just doing everything in Pittsburgh, though. It's unreal, some of the plays he makes. So, so good, in every facet of the game.

 right, he makes him "alot" better. stamkos is great, he probably scores 50 goals with anyone dishing him the puck on any team, atleast majority.

That's fine, that is your opinion.

As I said before...in MVP talk I think Malkin improves his teammate a lot more than Stamkos does with his, and I think St.Louis is what really helps Stamkos out big time.

My opinion, I backed it up with thought, opinion, some stats, and not smiley faces.

what stats? who cares if he has the great st louis? you whole arguement is subjective to the extreme. there is no specific stat that states that stamkos would be a regression candidate if he Didnt have st louis. im not even talking about who wins the trophy, im specifically debating your non sense of st louis makes stamkos better "big time" there is nothing to back that up. All coplimentary players contribute to the stars success in the NHL. Put Stamkos on the Pens and flip flop, I bet he still scores 50 goals. He is a hell of a player....for some reason from here and previous threads you just dont like him.

OPS when scored 51 for STL was 8.1
OPS when scored 45 for STL was 9.3
OPS NOW when at 50 for STL is 5.5

you arguement is bland at best.

So I don't like Stamkos because I think Malkin deserves the MVP over him? Makes sense.

For me St.Louis is what makes Stamkos run, Stamkos is a great player but St.Louis is huge to his success. Malkin has nobody that helps him run like a St.Louis, Malkin helps his team out a whole lot more in my eyes and makes everyone else better. Just my opinion from watching them and how they play.

We can disagree without freaking out, you are allowed to do that last time I checked. I disagree, I stated why, you disagreed and gave your reasons...I'll move on now.
