I've read a bunch of articles over the months about baseball teams attempting to set up Hitf/x and Fieldf/x to supplement Pitchf/x in order to not just track where a pitch goes in the zone but also where the batted ball goes and how it bounces before it ultimately gets into a fielder's glove. It's kind of hard to quantify what goes on inside a player's brain in the split-second he has (or less) to make that decision to swing, how hard to swing, where to try to direct the ball, etc.
Mostly it just feels like a way to make statnerds even nerdier but I imagine this data could be useful for evaluation purposes. Can never say "no" to more data, worst you have to do is just throw some of it out.
