OT: Bergfors Cut Loose By Florida...Good Fit For Chicago?

In a somewhat surprising move, the Florida Panthers declined to make a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Niclas Bergfors.
Bergfors was acquired from the Thrashers at the trade deadline and recorded seven points in 20 games with Florida, but clearly didn't do enough to impress Panthers' management. "[Bergfors] just doesn't seem to be the right fit for us with the direction we're taking,'' assistant general manager Mike Santos said. "The money he's going to command just didn't make sense to us.'' With this talent level, Bergfors could make for a nice sleeper this fall, depending on which club he ultimately lands with.

Is he good in the corners and a battler? For me, that would be priority in terms of forward additions.

Too many skilled players already on the roster.

Funny, we couldnt even have gotten him for Campbell.

I could agree with that, but maybe he takes a lower contract due to his poor year, and we move Frolik to the 3rd line (although I think thats where he was anyway...lol)


I think we need a center anyway
