1) Danny Parkins left

2). Laurence Holmes felt he was hugely disrespected when Danny Parkins got the afternoon drive promotion to the point that he got into with Parkins on the air a few years back. To the point that Parkins threw down his headphones in disgust and said "what the hell just happened".

3). Holmes has always wanted a chance at the afternoon drive slot so it made sense for him to get it ahead of bringing in someone else from the outside and risk alienating him again the same way they did when he was passed over for Parkins.

4). The Stoolies aren't that powerful.
