Because there's a movement among hockey players that are trying to drive down the excessive homophobia in pro sports today. It's called the "You Can Play" movement.

And assholes like Cam Janssen are part of the problem.

Cam Janssen was a talent-free asshole long before that video was made. He's John Scott with even less hockey ability. His usual stat line...the few games he actually gets into....are 2 shifts, 2:20, one fight. One trick ponies like this guy should have no place in the NHL.

The NHL is trying to do away with homophobic or sexist comments. A player calling an opponent a douchebag or "feminine cleaning product" could be construed as sexism or misogyny, which is the hatred, dislike or mistreatment of women.
