Just saw an alert on my phone, and read an article this morning about Bosh. Article said he was in the hospital, phone alert just said he may miss the rest of the season.

Tough break after trading for Dragic if true.

Just saw the same thing. Hopefully it isn't true for his sake.

And what are the chances that two players get blood clots in one year?

The nba.com article on it just says he's being tested and says nothing about him missing the season. However, same sentiment, sucks if true for Miami. Also means Hassan Whiteside may be even more of a monster.

I hope it isn't true because I actually like Bosh.

I wonder what caused it. In some athletes, like Serena Williams, the cause is clear. She had surgery and was on bed rest for a little, then she had couple of cross country flights. Both are risk factors for blood clots.

Hopefully, if Bosh does in fact have one, it has a cause like Serena's. If it's a genetic thing, his career could possibly be over.

Now they still haven't said for certain but generally when doctors believe their is a clot somewhere, there usually is. It would be terrible news not just for Bosh, but the Heat as well. They were looking like they could be a real dark horse after that trade yesterday.

As much I've made fun of Bosh in the past, he really was the only genuinely likeable guy out of the Big 3 imho, and I'd hate to see his career come to an end because of this.

Is it career threatening? I can understand season ending because he'd be on blood thinners for awhile, but I figured he'd be able to return to normal, especially under care of the greatest doctors money can buy.

It can be. it's life threatening as well. They believe he has a pulmonary embolism, which is what former blazer Jerome Kersey just died of.

Exactly. There's no real telling right now. It depends on if he has multiple clots and the severity of them. Hopefully it's not that bad but we likely won't hear anymore until tomorrow at this point.

Wow, that Sucks. Not to take anything away from the Bosh convo cuz I hope he's OK over everything else, bu the Heat gave up a ton for Dragic, and now there are rumors that Dragic still could go the LA after the year. Losing Bosh is just the kind of thing that seems like Dragic would not be happy with, especially if the Heat don't do well. Seems like Dragic is kind of a dick to me. :dunno:

Dragic did show his dickishness at the deadline here.

And yeah, Bosh gone pretty much shoots Miami into the ground. Hello Indiana Pacers.

Eh I don't know. In fact, I heard one of the big reasons why the Heat made that trade (giving up Cole who they didn't want to part with) was because there were assurances from Dragic's camp that he wanted to be there long term. I think we all can tell Wade is super excited. He's been talking up a storm about how great it is to be playing next to a star-caliber PG now.

Losing Bosh is a huge blow for sure, BUT, I don't feel like Dragic would use that as an excuse to jump ship this offseason. I mean it's not like Bosh was traded or signed with another team or anything. This a freak thing albeit an extremely serious one. We won't really know the severity until all the facts come out.

Despite all that, I think Dragic can help steady this ship with Wade & Deng. When playing his natural position last year, Dragic was 3rd team All-NBA, that means he was a top 6 guard in this league. He didn't lose any of that talent and I think you're going to see him play very well down the stretch here for the Heat. Still doesn't mean that they're a shoe-in for the playoffs, but I think they still have a chance of squeaking in.

Who would replace Bosh in the lineup? Would it be Haslem?

It would have to be, and Spo has a thing for Josh McRoberts. Either way, Whiteside is going to get more minutes.
