I wanted to ask a couple of questions before making any OT posts besides this one of course.

1) Since this is a chicago sports forum, it is mainly used for Bulls stuff and rightfully so. I found this site thanks to getting in touch with an old HS classmate - Fred. Is it appropriate for me to make OT posts for other sports, especially other Chicago sports? (last thing I want is to be a troll, but I also find the group in here very fun to read)

2) I own a sports card shop with two other people in Naperville. Is it appropriate to make a single OT post (about three to five a year) when we have an athlete signing? (I already add that in my signature, but I don't want to SPAM the board either.)

Input from all is appreciated but I really need the admins to chime in if they can.

Thanks,
Michael Paniak

First off welcome. Second I like to start OT posts about other teams, sometimes TV, movies, other sports etc. All is welcomed. I just have two rules for you, invite your friends and post alot.

Welcome to the board!

There is no problem starting OT posts about other sports, it happens all the time. When there is an athlete signing in your store, BY ALL MEANS post it. There are a bunch of people around that area I'm sure, and I think they'd be interested in such a thing.

If you need other assurance, just go through the pages of the board, there are tons of OT posts about lots of stuff. Anything is welcome, just don't be insulting or deliberately stupid (it wastes time).

I am interested personally in getting back into sports card collecting one day after I get a good enough job to support such a habit. Haven't collected since 1993. Want to get all of the NBA Upper Deck sets. Might go with football too. But I used to love Upper Deck and the Bowman old style baseball cards. I am not too much into signings, but that is just me, I am sure there are younger posters or collectors who are very enthusiastic about potential athlete signings at your store.
