Now that the Dallas Mavericks have the Miami Heat on the brink of elimination in the NBA Finals much to America's pleasure, are they the deserving of the title of America's team? You've gotta think that 49 of the 50 states are rooting mostly for Dallas and certain parts of Florida as well. What's not to like about the Mavericks? A hard-working Dirk Nowitzki and a supporting cast of Jason Terry, Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, JJ Barea and others. This is a TEAM that is hard to dislike, especially against a team like Miami.

Your thoughts?

49 out of 50 states were rooting for Chicago, Boston (to a lesser degree), and even Philly to beat Miami. People are not watching to see Dallas win, they are watching to watch Miami lose. It doesn't matter who is wearing the opposing jersey.

They were actually second to last on the teams I'd like to see win it all after the 2nd round

I think a ton of people would suddenly remember they were Bulls fans...

You do not know how many times while wearing my Bulls gear I hear, "I used to be a huge Bulls fan back when Jordan played" .... Well where the hell have you been for the 13 years after that

Caron Butler has missed the entire season for the Mavs...very interesting to see what they do with him.

Same here. Funniest part is the quote. You worded it exactly how I hear it when I sport my gear too. Especially nowadays since I have this Bulls phone cover for my iPhone.

If there was any basketball team that would be considered "America's Team" it would be either the Lakers or the Celtics.

Dallas was an expansion team in the early 80's and overall, they sucked pretty bad until they drafted Dirk. Even thought they have won a lot of games under Dirk, they have yet to win a title. No way they're America's Team.

They are America's team in the sense that America is most likely rooting against Miami, with the exception of heat band-wagoners and lebron stans.

Everyone hates Miami. I don't blame them either.. If the Mavs pull it off, it's going to be a party all around the country.
