Wonder if he'd like to come to the north side and make Garza the greatest pitcher in baseball?

He was supposed to serve out his contract with STL, but left due to family reasons. If he's not going to do it as a Cardinal, I doubt he'd leave his family for extended periods of time to do the job in Chicago.

Family comes first.

This is actually sad... good luck with him and his wife. Who's battling cancer.

The Cards are prolly having the worst off-season they can imagine; Tony LaRussua retiring, Albert Pujols signing with the Cards and now Dave Duncan stepping down.

****! I have the number one pitching prospect in Major League Baseball (Shelby Miller) on my NL-Only Roto Keeper league ($200 a season) and was just FOAMING AT THE MOUTH for Dave Duncan to get his hands on the kid. :(

Derek Lilliquist (bullpen coach) will most likely take over. He's a fantastic replacement for Duncan, was the pitching coach when they went on their big run at the end of the season while Duncan was away from the team. I'll miss Duncan for sure, but the pitching staff is in good hands with Lilliquist and Matheny.

...except for the fact Dave Duncan is the greatest pitching coach in recent history...and arguably ever....

Guy turns chicken shit into chicken salad, silver into gold, gold into platinum...you get the picture.....

But for every Chris Carpenter, Woody Williams and Kent Bottenfield, there's a Kip Wells, Sidney Ponson and Garrett Stephenson.

I always thought the "turn water into wine" was a little overblown, but I do agree he's the best pitching coach ever and should get HOF consideration for it.

I hope Cooper does get consideration :)
