His salary was already dropping from 7 to 3 million next season, but the cap hit remained at 6.5. Now he'll get a hefty buyout check and a chance to make more money off of another team.
Someone's gonna offer him money though, for sure, and most likely a playoff team. Briere has 109 points in 108 career playoff games. Damn, damn good in the postseason.
