Neither team is a playoff team. It doesn't matter.

It's not like it's against a divisional team either. Of course each team is trying to win, but there's no reason that it should be as big of a deal as it is.

The Cubs-Sox rivalry is built on nothing but hate with zero rationality behind it (and perhaps driven by alcohol). It is divisive and pulls the city apart. Can't we all just... get along?
