I know who Kaberle is, not familiar with Spacek. Good trade or bad for Montreal?

I like it better for Montreal. Both are guys who can get you points.

Kaberle has been terrible this year, but might do better with a better team. Was good with the Bruins last year.

Spacek has been all over. Kaberle may not have liked being closer to the south. Who knows like tbo said it was a weird trade

I don't really get why MTL is going after a D man, plus, why go after Kaberle who has been brutally bad this year?

Montreal has been banged up on the Blueline. Depth wouldn't hurt them

I was listening to a bit of the Jets' pregame show on XM (have a free trial subscription) and they talked about this trade. They said this trade means Kaberle is on his fourth team since this time last year and has spent his career deadheading around the league.

I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow got back to Toronto

Why would the Leafs bring him back?

They're set on defense.

Keith Aulie
Jake Gardiner
Luke Schenn
John-Michael Liles
Dion Phaneuf
Carl Gunnarsson
Cody Franson
Mike Komisarek

Probably because thats where he started and played most of his career. He has sucked everywhere else he has went to so far. Komi has been injury prone, never know what your going to get from him. Aulie could still use some developing, Gunnarson is the average #5 or 6 guy. Schenn is solid but needs to learn an offensive game. Gardiner to should be developed.

Speaking of Leafs d-men, Hawks should try to nab Franson or Gunnarsson.

with SOD & Lepisto both gone after the season, either one would look nice.

Kaberle has been terrible this year and the Canes GM made some surprisingly negative comments about him just last week. He wasn't very impressive after he went to Boston last year and he was taken off the PP soon after he arrived. Kabs has 2 years left on his contract while Spacek is in his last year. This trade makes no sense for Montreal. Even if the Canadiens think that he will turn it around, they could have made a better deal. Big Win Carolina.

I got to watch quite a bit of Kaberle ten years ago when he was with the Maple Leafs living in Southern Ontario. He was quite good back then. Now not so much. The name Jaroslav Spacek makes me have to remember a time when he was arguably our best dman. Ugly days those were.

I wouldn't mind either one

Spacek always had like a glazed over look on his face when he was with the Hawks...

It was more a comment on the Hawks defense at the time than Spacek ability level.
