Mark and I just recorded a show that ended with some pop culture discussion. He hated "I Love You Man". I was going to see it next weekend, but now I'm on hold. I've talked to 5 people who loved that movie, but they were all women. Was it good? If I get one more no, I'm waiting til it comes out on DVD.

The second point: I hate the band Rush. I'm one of the 30 percent. But to those who love them, have you ever seen a hot girl who likes them? I'm pretty certain that it's impossible.

My wife is a die hard Rush fan, so what are you trying to say Fred?

I thought I love you man was good. It'd definitely recommend it, but it's not "must see". If you saw the previews and thought you wanted to see it based on them, then I think you'd enjoy it.

(side note, I also hate Rush).

I didn't think I Love You Man was all that great. It's not a bad movie by any stretch, but it kind of just drags on and on. You leave the theater kind of feeling like, "What's the point?". It has it's funny moments, but there is not one funny moment that sticks out in my mind, even though I saw it just 2 1/2 weeks ago.

As for Rush, the most geekiest guy in Fan Boys loves Rush.

"Don't you have any variety?"

"Rush is variety!"

I've never really listened to Rush, but have heard their songs play here and there. Much like "I Love You Man", you have that empty feeling of "what's the point?" after you hear one of their songs.

Really? I thought it was filled with pretty good moments. It wasn't world class good, but I thought it had a few pretty quotable lines in it, and that the movie was fairly entertaining throughout.

As I said, it's not "must see", but it was about what I expected going into it which is why I said if you like the preview you'll probably like the movie. If you're only so-so on the preview then you'll probably be so-so on it.

The exchange that went something like:
Openhouse guy:"This place is too small"
Sydney: "And it smells like fart!"
Sydney: "Roll a window down honey"

I enjoyed the movie. It's a little more subtle than a "Superbad" or a "Knocked Up". Not to say it isn't a goofy movie, it is, but there aren't huge over the top moments. If you like what Jason Seigel has done in the past you'd probably enjoy it. I hate "Superbad" by the way, so my opinion may mean nothing to you.
Wait did I just do the thing Mr. Tonus hates,.... a Chris Bosh, a Amare Stoudemire?

Haha, yes.

You can never use "a" something to denote it as a group and then list multiple entries in that group IMO. It's not so bad with just two though. If you then added "a 40 year old version, a forgetting sarah marshall, and a zach and miri make a porno" to the list it would have been really egregious.

Ever since you mentioned it, I really began to notice it. Everyone at ESPN does it. I heard it a lot when the Cutler trade was big news.

I loved it and so did my wife. If you are a fan of uncomfortable humor where you are just wincing because you feel so embarrassed for the main character, then you'll probably like it. I think it's very much in the same vain as something like The Office on TV. You laugh at Michael Scott, but half the time you are wincing because it's almost painful to watch. I guess that subtlety is what makes it funny for me.

There are a few sight gags and over the top kind of jokes in there as well, and they all hit the mark. It's no Anchorman, but I'm not sure anything can ever quite live up to that.

Doug, does your wife really like Rush, or are you trying to make me feel awful on a Monday morning? I should have expounded on my comment. I would never go to a Rush show, but I can't imagine that they have female groupies. I can't imagine what a female groupie for Rush would look like.

My wife is a die hard rush fan. She has seen them in concern probably 6-7 times, has about 25 Rush CDs and a few rush shirts. I hate Rush, but I've been dragged to one Rush concert, afterwards I just tell her to buy two tickets and go with a friend or one of her siblings (who are also all die hard into rush).

Sadly, this is no joke.

To be quite honest, I'm sure there are some hot groupies for any band (Rush included), but most rock bands probably have a predominantly male audience.

It should be intuitively obvious that music that appeals strongly to men isn't as likely to have lots of good looking women in the audience as music intended to appeal to women.

Of course, given that you find the attractiveness of the women in your audience to be of high priority, I can only make the conclusion that you are into girlie music and are not a true man.

Re:OT:

lol. I deserve all this for my comments. I take it all back and apologize profusely. As punishment, I'm going to download every Rush album tonight on iTunes and listen consistently until the Bulls first playoff game.

I submit "Aerosmith" to disprove this theory.

Re:OT:

That's hilarious, after reading Doug's post I thought it could be worse she could love Aerosmith. Just for the record my wife, whom I think is quite beautiful, hates Rush. She does make me listen to the Greatful Dead a lot though.

You're not a prisoner of war here, no need to subject yourself to cruel and unusual punishment.

Just miss a couple three point shots when I defend you next time we play and pretend that I had something to do with it and we'll call it even.

Re:OT:

I just got through the "Fly By Night" album, to keep my punishment promise. I'm thinking of jumping out the window of my office, 35 floors up.
