OT: I Tore Down a Rim Man!

Some of you probably won't like this post because it doesn't have much to do with the Bulls but we're still in the off-seasons and oh what the heck...this is a free country so I guess we can post whatevers on our mind so here goes.

Yesterday I was playing my weekly basketball game with some students (I'm a teacher at a Chinese University). After playing a full game I decided to throw down some slams as I usually do before going in. I went down with one hand. Down with two hands. Jumped off two feet, did a chin up...they were going nuts.

Well, some freshmen watching from behind the fence go "Hey do Kobe Bryant slam!" I asked them "Slam dunk?" They said "Yes! Yes!" egging me on.

So i go up and throw down a two-hander but i was in for a little surprise.

While in midair i heard a loud "Snaaaaaaaaaap!" and while i was off the ground realized "Whoah this rim just snapped off" and I'm still in the air."

After landing awkwardly on my knee shaken up sure enough the rim was off the backboard.

It's nothing spectacular since it's an old rim that has some wear and tear but c'mon, I'm a white guy and i tore a rim down!

I love Dwight Howard but can we stop with the Superman comparisons? Shaq is Superman. Dwight's shotclock dunk was nice but he aint bringing it down.

Shaq tearing it down has always been my favorite. That's cool that you can dunk though. I'm short and can't even dream of dunking on a regulation rim unless i have a trampoline or something. In some ways, I envy you.

Does Nerf-hoop count? I am a 5'8" Filipino with the vert of an elephant...so I am sorry to say I can't throw down unless it's lowered. Which is a lot of fun by the way... I like Mike's dunk in Italy...but I am biased.

Congrats on the Rim. Did you keep it?

Awesome, Filipinos are some of the coolest people on earth. I have quite a few Filipino friends. Loyal, lotal people.

I wish i could have kept it! haha Dont think i could fit it back in my suitcase though, whenever the times comes to head back.
