Everyone (myself absolutely included) gave them a lot of well earned shit about their goaltending situation. So, good to see them learn.

But 9 years? I don't want any NHL contract for 9 years... ESPECIALLY a goalie.

Well the talk was he wanted 7 years for 50 Mil. Which would ridiculously overpay him, they must of added the two lessen the yearly strife.

Well it's weird... everyone has been saying that the trend of high paid goalies is going away mainly due to Detroit proving that you can win with cheaper dudes between the pipes.

But then, you look at this year's final four... 3 of the 4 (Niemi, Luongo and Thomas) all have big healthy contracts and in one case (Thomas) everyone saw how a goalie can be more than worth a big salary.

All things considered, I like Crawford's new deal even more now.

Aye. Interesting day for Flyers and their fans. I'm not impressed with this contract; I think this might be a touch overreaction (I know there have been years of clamoring for them to get a decent goalie). That healthy top four (I suppose ought to have been even better this past season with the addition of Meszaros) did get them to the Finals with some mediocre goal-tending; however, Pronger wasn't healthy this past postseason, and he's a huge difference maker.

Which leads me to think there was a lot more truth to the personality conflicts among teammates.

Leino could comfortably re-sign now as well.

I still don't know why they completely gave up on Bobrovsky. Guy had some promise.

That team is good enough that they can still put together a solid winning season while he learns the NHL and improves.

I'd much rather gamble on him than a horrible 9 year goalie contract.
