All of his complaining in the regular season and now in the playoffs. He has been bashed by Gortat, got into a little altercation with Anthony Johnson (both laughed about it though), and now did you hear Dwight Howard after the game just questioning Stans coaching in the final 5 minutes?

“The coach has to recognize what’s working on the floor and stick to it," said Howard. "Even if you don’t have your starters in, the guys you put the most trust in. You gotta have trust in everybody. When you’re in the situation where guys got it going, you know everybody’s moving the ball and the energy is up, you have to stick with it. You have to stick with what works.":eek:hmy:

Seems like he is knocking Stan but clearly showing praise to what Doc did in playing Marbs and Big baby down the stretch.

Yeah, I smell this one coming too.

It's gonna come down to SVG or Dwight....and SVG will be shown the door (of course). Maybe not this off-season, but soon.

He made a mistake that the rookie coach everybody hates wouldn't of made keeping Howard in the game for the in bounds.

Orlando with there style of play won't go far in the postseason, that's not how they're built. They soot so many threes it doesn't matter how good you are at shooting them the average is going to balance off at the end of the day or end of a series

Van Gundy coached a dumb 5 minutes of basketball. And he should get principal blame. But, those players on the floor should know better also. Especially Rafer Alston. He played with Yao. Turkoglu played with Webber, Divac, and Duncan. These guys should know to get Howard the ball and play off of that. Orlando does not deserve to win this series based on last night's game.

If the Celtics pull it out, I think you definitely say Doc out-coached Van Gundy.

On a critical possession VDN admitted that he didn't realize Rose wasn't on the floor on the inbound play against Miami. He actually said he didn't realize Rose was out there.

I think it's hard to quantify whether VDN would have made such a mistake or not ;)

Just look at the Boston series and you'll see he took Noah out of the games for Miller in those times

Let's not take what he did in Feb and act like he didn't correct it Doug.......

My point is that what he did was FAR worse, he also mismanaged timeouts in the end game situations a couple of times, and I thought he made some mistakes with the way he handled offensive/defensive subs incorrectly by not having offensive players out there when he needed them.

Would he have made this exact mistake, I don't know, but he certainly has had a huge share of end game follies that wouldn't make me bring up in a discussion about a guy who wouldn't make an end game mistake.

I think Avery Johnson will be the Magic's coach next year.

There's some sense in that as long as Stan the man doesn't have too many years left on his deal. In this economy I bet you see a lot less coaches getting the axe because teams don't want to pay 2 coaches.

To be fair to Vinny, he caught the Funk Flu, which causes you to constantly misidentify players. Vinny seemed to make a full recovery by the time the postseason rolled around.

Well, with how we ran the offense most of the year, I didn't know if Rose was or wasn't on the court, so I can see how he'd have the same problem.

Stan isn't COY of the year but that team isn't built to win in the playoffs. Spreading the floor is nice but they don't go to Howard often enough because everyone else needs to get their shot in and they don't have a real SG or PF on the roster. Lewis is a good sf and creates a mismatch but you need more defense and his contract will prevent them from doing anything. They have 40 mill a yr tied up in 2 players long term and have absolutly no flexibility to add pieces.

Re:OT: Is it me or is Stan Van Gundy getting the a

Somebody send tapes of Hakeem the dream and the Houston Rockets of 1993/94 team to SVG and tell him to do exactly that.

I see Orlando team very similar to that Rockets team - bunch of shooters spreading the floor for Hakeem the Dream. The only thing is Dwight is nowhere near as offensively talented as Hakeem but they still could use him as a decoy.

They need to have Dwight touch the ball every possesion (unless it's fast break). Dwight also needs to be shooting atleast 18-20 times coz there is no way in hell he shouldn't be score less than 25 a game with that thin frontline of Celtics.

ALso, Dwight himself needs to get mad ON THE COURT and tell the players to feed him the damn ball. Him not getting enough touches has also affected his defense as he is not blocking any shots, no steals nothing.

It should NOT ONLY be on the coaching but it should be on Dwight himself for not yelling at his teammates to get him the ball and also his teammates for not throwing him the ball.

Was anyone else mad about everyone getting on Howard about missing that last free throw on purpose? He had to miss it IMO. They had no timeouts left and after they fouled the Celtics they may have had like 2 seconds on the clock to get it all the way up court on the next position and throw a 3 point prayer. I think it was there only chance. Barkley was going crazy about it on TNT as well as some of the other guys. I don't know maybe I missed something?

I'm with you on this one, I would have missed that free throw too, sucked that their best rebounder was the one at the line but you still give it a shot. There is no chance of making a 3/4 court shot, I didn't get Barkley on that one either.

It's time to turn the reins over to Patrick Chewing, a coach all the players respect, and will provide endless supplies of Snickers for pre-game meals.

I think the problem is that Howard is not nearly that good offensively, and he hasn't gained the trust of his teammates. Olajuwan in my opinion, is a top 5 center all time, he could score 15 feet in and he had an unstoppable offensive move. Howard just uses brute strength. But that is better than what was happening out there, get the franchise player the ball.

Speaking of the Rockets, that is what I thought of the Scott Skiles' Bulls teams. If we just had that money guy down low....oh well, they don't grow those on trees.

My question is with Shaq, Gortak and now Howard criticizing his coaching under pressure...will he ever coach again if he does get fired.

He had a team in Miami that won a championship after he left and maybe that is what happens with Orlando. I like Avery Johnson, he was my first choice for the Bulls.

Orlando needs Jameer back more than anything I think.

I don't see firing SVG is going to change that team much. Howard really doesn't have that much success against a big body like Perkins. Once you neutralize Dwight's power to some extent at least, he has very few real moves or skill to create baskets.

I think he was simply frustrated and angry about the loss and let it out in the post game conference, which was bad timing and doesn't bode real well for bringing the team's confidence back together.

Maybe they should start looking for their 126 million dollar man to start producing some late game offense. Because that team is pretty much locked in place as is for a while.
