If he wouldn't have lifted his shoulder into his head I think it would have been a clean hit. Had he rocked him in the chest, tough titty. He had the puck, he was fair game. That little lift to hit him in the chin is what made that a skeezer play.

Flyers should shut down Voracek for the year. No way they're winning the cup so why bother.

Seriously though, why can't the Hawks have someone that hits like that. That type of play works.

^^^ I do think the shutting Toews down for the year talk is ridiculous. No one here knows how bad his injury is and how he is reacting to it. The Blackhawks brought Bolland back last year when they were down 0 - 3 in a series and he hasn't been out with a concussion since. Shutting Toews down just because of fear would be silly. If he is fine the medical staff will say so and will clear him to play. Toews did skate today so hopefully he is on his way to playing again.

and you and buff would be the same guys that would be bitching if he has a setback stating we brought him back to early. Its a concussion, no point in bringing back someone to early to possibly have a setback. Great you used Bolland, if bolland gets a setback it is no big deal, this is the franchise just like sidney crosby, look what happened there. Add the fact that they will be going at TOEWS hard if they make the playoffs.

This super fan mentality is what irritates me. We see what concussions are doing, we see that the research on concussions is more devastating than what was thought before. When you have a star player you handle them with care. To rush him back because we need him in the playoffs or because fans want to see him is very very ignorant.

That's the thing though...who says if Toews comes back this year that it is too early? If the guy is ready, then I am sure he is going to want to play and there is no reason to not let him if he is medically cleared. Also, I certainly wouldn't be bitching if he was medically cleared and it happens...this is the NHL and injuries are part of it.

Look at Crosby. His seems to have been much more severe but apparently he will be making his comeback pretty shortly here, before the start of the playoffs. No need to shut a guy down for the season just because. If they are ready then they should play.

No one is saying to rush him back. People are just saying to not shut him down just because. Everyone is aware of concussions but sooner or later when medically cleared, you have to go about your job and your life. If Toews is medically cleared, just like Crosby, and is ready...then he should play.

medically cleared? you do know how that works with team doctors right? crosby was handled right in the beginning than a failure at the end.

he would have to be 100% for anyone to feel ok with him going out there. a lot of pro teams dont go that route as it has been shown in the history of sports. some injuries you can go through without risk not being 100% some like this you just cannot. I think it is selfish of fans to want him back in a season where we arent winning the cup. if he is 99% why bring him back this season? for the chance of a reoccuring injury? its a lost season. He is the franchise, no point in risking that for this year.

but than I guess if they get hot at the end they can win the cup according to some

Once again, a whole lot of assumptions. If Toews is medically cleared and ready to go, I would expect him to go. Can't wait forever and if he is ready, he is ready.

In the same token, it is selfish of fans to want to shut him down without knowing everything that is going on behind the scenes. This is up to Toews and the Blackhawks staff, as fans you just hope that all is right before he is put back in the line up.

I don't see the Blackhawks rushing Toews back in any way. Maybe this is something he has to deal with the rest of his career, who knows but if he is ready then he should play. Regardless if the chances are slim if the Blackhawks win a Stanley Cup or not. If he is ready tomorrow should they hold him out 20 games next season to see what their chances are first? Of course not.

I'm hoping for a quick recovery and hopefully he gets back out on the ice when 100% ready. Not a second before and not a second after.

This hit wasn't clean, he clearly raises his shoulder toward the head. There was a similar hit in the Bruins game without the contact to the head and it was awesome.

Big difference. You hit the head and it's automatically not okay.

46 secs in shows that it was NOT a clean hit. If that was a hit on a hawk some would be singing a different tune.

If Toews is cleared, you let him play. After all it is hockey, if he wants to and is cleared he should play. If he is scared of the damage he could do, get out of the sport. He always has that option.
