The guy was amazing. The funniest thing to me was watching Don Cherry giving praise begrudingly to Lidstrom on Coach's Corner the many times the Wings came up.

If it's possible to not hate a guy on the Wings, Nik Lidstrom was the guy.

One of the best defenders the game has seen. This probably opens the door for Suter in the motor city

Glad the Hawks won't have to face him ever again, but sad to see such a good player leave the league.

He played 20 great years.

As a Blackhawks fan since only 2000ish, I haven't had a player that I really loved retire yet. Not looking forward to that.

PS. Saw something funny on twitter that the Red Wings have a great new addition for the alumni game for the Winter Classic.
