Every team and many players have a nickname.

We can write here why they were given the nickname or who gave it to them.

The first poster writes about one player or a team nicknames stories and asks about someone else.Next poster answers the question and asks about someone else etc..We must write as many nicknames of a player and the behind stories as we know..



David Robinson - the Admiral.He was given this nickname by his teammates on the San Antonio Spurs in 1987 because he went to Navy for college and,had to fulfill duties he played 2 years after he was drafted.

Shaq Diesel. That was his LSU nickname, and the first one I know of, that he didn't give himself.

What did Red call Marcus Fizer? This is a funny one, because as Fizer started to suck more, Kerr lost his man crush on him and just refereed to him as his real name from then on out, saying he doesn't deserve to be called by his nickname.
