Not been confirmed yet, but expect an announcement soon during Game 5.

Multiple reports on Twitter. I'll update the main post shortly.

Absolutely devastating. Thoughts and prayers to his family and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Terrible news. Tragic. He was 22 and had a bright future.

Prayers to the families of Oscar Taveras and his girlfriend, who also passed away.

Condolences to all of Cardinal Nation.

Cardinals have had three active players pass away in the last 12 years. Very sad.

His agent and family comfirmed that him and his GF passed away in a car crash in the Dominican Republic. Sad man, kid had a tremendous future. Never take life for granted. It can be gone in a split second. RIP.

Ugly twist, Tavares had a BAC 5 times the legal limit at the time of the crash

In the DR a DUI is .05

Read somewhere that he BAC was .287 Article said he would have had to consume 15 drinks in a 2 hour span to reach that level.

What a waste, and his decision cost his girlfriend her life as well

with money and fame comes the false belief that you can do anything without getting killed or catching a case. hopefully puig learned from this terrible incident.
