According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Marlins are considering firing manager Ozzie Guillen after an extremely disappointing first season in Miami.

Apparently, the Marlins are "testing the waters" with managerial candidates, going as far as already contacting one potential replacement. Guillen is signed through the 2015 season, so if they do decide to give him the boot, it's expected that it would be for a low-cost alternative as to not have so much salary tied up in paying two managers.

Any "entertainment value" that ozzie had is now stale and kind of sad. If he'd learn to shut his mouth, maybe people would take him serious and respect him.

I mean, really, what did Florida expect?

"Hey, let's get the most controversial coach in the game, and bring in the most controversial pitcher, and move our already frustrated all-star SS to 3rd...yeah, that should work."

The only move that made sense for Miami was signing Heath Bell, who immediately imploded.

Miami had a decent team in place to start with. They should've built around Stanton, made him the focal point. Instead of spending all that money on Reyes, sign a guy like Aramis to play 3rd, and some guys like DeJesus and C. Beltran. Hindsight is 20/20 i guess, but I think the majority of baseball fans saw this not working out so well in Miami to begin with.

I'm really surprised that ozzie and zambrano didn't have a physical confrontation in the dugout this year.

LOL. I was really hoping for a fight between those two. Would've been the icing on the cake for Chicago baseball fans on both sides of the city.

hahaha, yeah, nothing would've been better than if actual blows were exchanged after the two blew each other in the media for 2+ years.

OT -- Don't know if this has been mentioned or discussed in an earlier thread but a few months ago Ozzie's School of Management: Lessons from the Dugout, the Clubhouse and the Doghouse by Rick Morrissey was published. Don't be fooled by the book's name. Morrissey was just trying to be clever with the title -- it isn't a "management" book. The book is pretty entertaining.

IF Ozzie is one and done in Miami, I see it being really hard for him to get not just another job as a manager but a job as a 1st or 3rd base coach or even a bench coach. He's going to have a real good friend in another organization for something like that to happen.

Yep, he'll be like Dave Wannstedt after his second failed head coaching job in Miami. Ozzie may have to work in AAA or just retire if he reaches that point.

But I tihnk I'll have to see it to believe that they're not going to give Ozzie at least another year before canning him. Usually no one who sucks hard in their first year of a multi-year deal is scrapped that quickly. Too much money invested....

It wouldn't really stun me to see Ozzie back in Miami next season but on a very short leash.
