I am watching Kings vs Spurs and refs just blew it.

Finley makes a 3pter with 1.2 seconds left and it was CLEARLY shot clock violation and Refs not only refuse to call shot clock violation but after all the kings coaches, players and fans booing and arguing, even with a timeout, refs REFUSE to check the monitor and correct the call.

WOW!!! I am speechless. This is not supposed to be Spurs win. Somebody/something's gotta be done about this. These DUMB refs blunders need to be fixed.

Why couldn't they check the replay? There was a timeout and plenty of time for them to check it but they just refused to do it.

I want to throw everything I have in my home at those refs and I don't even like Kings but it was so beyond ridiculous and mind boggling.

They should let coaches have one challenge per game. Refs have messed up many plays this year however I doubt Kings really do care, more ping pong balls.

I didn't think they were allowed to use the monitor except in end quarter/game situations.

I hope they get rewarded by getting the #1 pick (Blake Griffin).

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
They probably figured the game doesn't matter anyway. I'm more concerned with the fact that refs give foul calls based on prestige. Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and many others would get a foul call on many of the plays that Derrick never got calls on. However there is the fact that fans of every team seem to think that none of their players get fair calls so that may be Bulls fan bias =P (though IMO Hinrich still gets a lot of crap calls against him)

They're only allowed to check the replay at the end of quarters and to decide whether it was a two or a three.

Ok that's all fine and dandy but it was only 1.3 seconds left and it's not like they are stopping the play to check the replay.

It's a DIRECT matter of win and lose coz of a shot clock violation vs a 3pt reward. All those rules aside, they could have easily overruled it - like they many times do anyways.

I just think it's a bIG TIME wrong.

I hope NBA comes with a new rule - something like giving 2 challenges per team - where they can check the monitor/replay and make the correct calls. I prefer 3 or 4 or 1 per qtr at most.

That would really help a lot of teams (that do actually get hurt by poor reffing like Bulls team).

I've seen a lot of people contend that NBA refs are the best in any sport because it is the hardest to officiate, but I go the opposite way. I'd say they're the worst. They exert control over the game sin ways that refs in no other sport do. The are inconsistencies, the lack of uniformity in interpretation of rules, and the obvious favoritism with regards to vets and star players.

In addition to that, there are many NBA refs with big egos, making themselves too much of the show. How many NBA refs do you as an avid NBA fan recognize by name and/or face? Off the top of my head, I can think of Steve Javie, Dick Bavetta, Violet Palmer, the Garretsons(forget the son's name off the top of my head), Joey Crawford, Danny Crawford. I can think of one official in the NFL and MLB combined whose name I know, Ed Hochuli.

that's lame.
i dont want them to stop the game to look at every play....but sometimes they ought to use some sort of intuitive judgement in order deciede which plays merit a second look.

err does anyone remember the spurs lakers game three last year? barry was clearly fouled on a three point attempt at the end of the game.

Or the Bulls/Heat game where Ben Gordon was clearly late.

The best part of that one is that they actually went and reviewed the play, but they couldn't do anything about it, because they were only allowed to check whether or not it was a 2 or a 3.
