I agree he's more than earned an opportunity to be a head coach, but I question how much of an impact he'll have on this roster compared to what George Karl was able to do. With Shaw having an overwhelming majority of his coaching experience coming from Phil's triangle offense, it'll be interesting to see if he sticks with the triangle or implements a variety of concepts and schemes. This is a group of guys that loves to run -- I still think they'll take a small step back this season, especially withe Gallo on the mend for a while.
I don't mean to say that Shaw will have the Nuggets setting the world on fire. I just mean to suggest that, with his pedigree so far in coaching, him being a first year coach is a non factor.

Mike Miller isn't nearly as important as he is being made out to be on this thread.
Mike Miller is a decent, one-dimensional player who benefited greatly being on the same roster as two players in the top 5. Nothing more.

When you consider how weak Memphis is offensively along their 2/3 spots, then I think it is fair to say he could feasibly be enough to put a team over another team. The West is just that competitive combined with Memphis being that desperate for perimeter scoring/shooting.
Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince do everything better than Miller except shoot the 3. Pondexter probably does as well and from what I remember from a couple Memphis playoff games he can get hot in a hurry from 3 at times also. Bayless is a decent scoring guard off the bench. The only thing Miller could do for them is shoot 3s and if he's really their only 3pt threat, it's easy to shut him down.
