Theres no goalie I'd rather have for 7 years.

Well maybe Bryzgalov but only for his post game interviews.

7 mil a year? I dont like that, but its money well spent for Nashville given their style of play. Long expensive goalie contracts are not cool at all but if you are all in for defensive hockey- why not.

Preds had to do everything to keep Rinne. Both for their team and the fan base.

The $7mil isn't that big of a deal cap wise because the Preds will never reach the ceiling. While they do have an internal cap I'm sure, they are probably flexible with it if it means keeping their two top Dmen and goalie.

I think they keep both Suter and Weber. Weber is a RFA at the end of this year and Suter is a UFA. No way they let Weber go as they will probably elect for team arbitration again if it gets to that point - in which they can't walk away from the arbitrator's decision.

Weber and Rinne will be Preds until someone WAY overpays for them in a stupid trade during a playoff hunt five years from now.

Weber wants 7 mil per also

Suter wants double his 3.3 mil per right now...thats 6.6

There is no way a cash strapped team like Nashville can keep 20.6 mil tied up in 3 players per year

No Goalie is worth $7 million a year imo. He'd actually have to be Patrick Roy in order to justify that much.

I hate big goalie contracts and I think there is no shortage of very good goalies.

But when you're in the top 3 of your position- you need to get paid.

The issue I have with Goalies getting huge money is that it is such an inconsistent job, just ask Roy lol. Tim Thomas had his best season ever at 36 years old. You never know any given year how your goalie is going to play, even the best aren't always great.

About Rinne though, he is an amazing goalie; I just don't see $7 million at a small market team a great investment.

Yeah, they're a cheap team, but they are without question, a defense first team. They don't have the skill or the game plan to score a lot of goals, making a good goalie incredibly important to their success.

He's like performance tires on a Ferrari. Sure you could save money and throw some all seasons on your 435, but you're going to literally lose out on all the potential of that car. You have to either spend the extra cash for some Pirelli Pzero Rosso's or sell the car.

Nashville isn't going to sell the car.

Yeah I understand now, I didn't actually realize how under the cap Nashville we're, I was looking at it more from a Chicago point of view then a Nashville one. I could never imagine Crawford making $7 million (as great as he is) but somewhere around $5-5.5 mill isn't out of the realm of possibility.
