DETROIT -- Chuck Daly, who coached the original Dream Team to the Olympic gold medal in 1992 after winning back-to-back NBA championships with the Detroit Pistons, has died. He was 78.

He died Saturday morning in Jupiter, Fla., with his family by his side, the team said. The Pistons announced in March that the Hall of Fame coach had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was undergoing treatment.

Very sad. What a terrible year for the NBA. I loved how Daly worked really hard with Rodman and became great friends with him. Like the Bulls this is the Pistons second loss this season (Bill Davidson).

wow Detroit just can't catch a break, didn't their owner die earlier this year?

A great loss within the NBA community.

One of the greatest coaches of all time, who seemed to have been respected by many many people around the league.

Enjoy the next part of your life Chuck.
