The Hall of Very Good™: HOVG Heroes: Brett Butler

Someone make sure Tony Campana reads this article again and again because it is only shot at being even a decent second division starting CF in the big leagues.

On a serious note, Sam Fuld is a cool, smart baseball dude. I don't think he is more than a fourth OF, but it is awesome to have a baseball player that is this articulate and knowledgeable about the objective analysis side of the game.

And I apparently didn't get enough sleep. Can someone fix my title because the article is about Brett Butler, retired leadoff hitter extraordinaire, and not Billy Butler, current Royals All-Star DH.

I WISH Campana could mold himself after Brett Butler. If Campana could ever learn to hit, take a walk, bunt more effectively, take a few in the shoulder and back now and again... he could become an incredible leadoff man.

Basically you have to be able to never strike out, walk a lot with pitchers not being afraid to throw you a strike, and bunt for hits at an incredible rate. There are few players in the history of the game that had those skills with the incredible speed.
