This sounds like a not so smart idea from the Angels.

He's still under team control for 4 years..1 cheap year and 3 arbitration years. So over those 4 years you're talking probably $60 million unless something goes wrong. So they're only buying 2 additional years for essentially $90 million and he's still a free agent at age 28.

Where am I wrong in my thinking?

$150MM is a steal. If they wait and drag things out, he'll be worth closer to $250MM. That's evil empire/carmine money.
