It was mentioned earlier this week in passing on a radio station, but I have been thinking about it more and more. Who will this Championship mean more to, Dirk or Lebron?

While Lebron went to Miami to win championships, I’m not so sure it has to be this year that it all begins even though it might. Lebron is already seen as a great player. Probably a top 5-10 player of all-time even though he hasn’t won a ring as of yet.

But for Dirk it would mean a lot. He would cement his legacy as one of the all-time great big men possibly cracking the top 10 centers list of all-time. And given the possibility that Miami could be putting together a dynasty, this might be Dirk’s only chance to win a ring.

What do you think?

it means more to Dallas without question, they have been playing second fiddle to SA and the Lakers almost as long as the Heat have been a franchise...

It will have a bigger impact on LeBron.

If Dirk wins a title, it won't move him up much in the list of top players of all time. He'll never be in the top 10. Lebron, however, is scheduled to potentially go down as the GOAT and he needs titles to help him reach that. Lebron will go down as a Top 10 player of all time, likely Top 3, and possibly #1 overall. He needs the titles, Dirk can win 2 titles and never break the Top 10 list.

This is a pretty tough one...Dirk really needs a ring...but so does lebron

Dirk needs a ring to get the demons off his back and also accomplish post season success after choking for so many after having such great regular season spurts..i mentioned this a little earlier but look at the teams that have had 5+ years straight of 50 win seasons...you see a bunch of franchise runs like the 80s Lakers, Boston, 2000s Spurs, the Bulls, etc. and then you have the anomaly which is dallas...so much regular season success yet can't pan out in the postseason....Dirk getting a title here would be huge and would end any talk about choking...

For lebron its basically the same thing...lebron has been deemed a choker in the posteason..and like dirk he is seriously coming in the clutch especially this postseason...only thing left is a title..of course lebron is definitely overall hated because of his immature handling of his decision..but winning a title would be monumental...it could start a dynasty as well as bring redemption..winning championships is the ultimate way of redemption in sports..think about A Rod and Kobe and what they did and how soon it was forgotten when they delivered championships..and im sure there's a bunch of other examples

anyone who ever says Lebron is the greatest of all time needs to be strapped to a chair and made to watch the queen quit on his team against the Celtics in the playoffs last year, he will NEVER be the greatest of all time regardless of championships, she blew her shot at that last year...

No one's saying Lebron is the GOAT. But I think any rational person would say that there's certainly potential for him to be the GOAT by the end of his career.

and what i am saying is he blew is shot at ever being considered GOAT because he quit on his team last year, he will never be better than Jordan or Magic or Bird or any of several other players who ALWAYS gave max effort on the floor regardless of circumstances...

completely.subjective.

if lebron wins 6 titles...do you seriously just say "Oh well he 'quit' on the Cavs and went to Miami.....therefore he is not even in the discussion for GOAT?"

you might...but if i'm looking from a future standpoint...and i look at the history books and i see lebron with 6 titles and a couple of mvps as well as his apparent talent and other variables then damn right he will be considered as one of the best ever....i dont think him going to miami will have completely ruined his legacy....a lot of people think that but that again is subjective...should a great player stay with his team? Um hell yes...but he has the freedom to leave and really he gave the Cavs a great 7 years of prosperity....but he realized that he just couldnt win there

(note i did not say lebron will win 6 titles....its just a scenario)

my statement has nothing to do with his going to the Heat from the Cavs so I am not sure why you felt compelled to mention that. I could care less about that whole mess. Personally i dont have a problem with a free agent going to another team regardless of thier reason for doing so. I am talking about not giving max effort during a fucking playoff series. The guy was supposed to be the leader of his team but he QUIT on them. By QUIT i dont mean leaving in free agency. By QUIT I mean not performing with maximum effort during a fucking playoff series while under contract with that team, whether his whiney girl ass wanted to be there or not. Great performers in thier field dont quit, the greatest certainly don't but I could be wrong, I am not a part of the entitlement generation...

I don't think that will be held over him. As someone mentioned, he had a triple double....not like he wasn't playing well. He'll be remembered for whatever he does with the Heat, being a phenomenal player with the Cavs with lackluster support, and a somewhat poor way of handling the move from Cleveland to Miami.

He'll be remembered as an egotistical, self-centered, greedy bastard who's not loyal to his home. He's about money, winning and no competition.

Who cares about loyalty to your home? Is every person who ever moves away from their hometown a sellout for seeking a better future?

Egotistical? Welcome to the NBA. Better yet, welcome to professional sports.

Greedy? The guy took a pay cut. And yes, he's about winning. No competition? Who had the best record in the regular season? Who beat the Heat by some 20 points in Game 1 and took them to the very end of each 4th quarter every game, with one of them in overtime? No competition? You're already thinking the Heat will purely dominate? Even I don't think that.

I have been a fan of Jason Kidd since his drafting. Until I watched him play I was always more of a fan of scoring the ball. Then I saw him pass, & I started implement that into my game. I quickly realised just how much more rewarding assisting a teammate was instead of scoring.

He completely changed how I play, & yes I know Magic was the first to make passing look good. I just hadn't really watched him. Kidd was the first PG I came across.

So basically with Dirk & Kidd heading into there twilight. I feel that it would mean a heck of lot more to them. Especially Kidd who had 2 heartbreaking Finals failures in a row earlier last decade. Both Dirk & Kidd have their demons they need to slay in the next 2 weeks.

Also the fans of Dallas are insanely loyal. While Miami had trouble selling out this season. Once again Dallas takes that cake as well.

I am personally rooting for Dallas.

  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Personally I feel it means more for Dallas. Kidd and Dirk have been to the finals before and failed and are now entering the last part of their careers. This in all honesty is probably their last shot since the Heat are going to get better every year onward. Dirk can finally get people off his back for being that guy who didn't perform in the playoffs and couldn't take his team anywhere. Kidd can finally get the ring that I feel he deserves. It'd be huge for Lebron too, but I just think the age factor wins out here.
