I like the fact that they are trying to bring back as much of the old Jets look as possible. I like seeing the Jets back in the NHL, a lot.

And the Nordiques may be back soon, maybe under a different name, but a team in Quebec nonetheless. I'd like to see Hartford, but that's very unlikely IMHO.
Vegas is trying to get an NHL, MLS, MLB, and NBA team now (they have a UFL team already, so not targeting NFL right now) to play in a new complex they're building... so that could be interesting as well.

Re-locate Phoenix to Quebec and bring the Nordiques back and I'm fully content with the NHL. Jets are back, just need the Nordiques. The Whalers would just be the cherry on top.

I dunno, it seems more like some wannabe's idea of an attention grab on the twit, basically what you have (so conveniently placed next to the pre-Phoenix logo for comparison), is the same logo using a darker shade and a silhouette of an F-22 on it in place of the other jet image).
Stuff like that generally comes from some guy's gutted photoshop program, or free image editing suite than from a professional graphics' designer.
Although I admire the enthusiasm on fans' parts by going to these lengths - it does seem a little odd that this particular image was using an F-22 just like the other mock up of logos (which were better done in any event) -speaking as a user of Photoshop Ext CS5 and Fireworks CS5.... (not that I have have ever gotten around to working much in sports' topic).
