To those of you that live up in Canada; My wife and I are thinking of moving up there once I finish school. What are the differences between there and living in the US. Any areas that are better than most, and any to areas to stay away from.

For a guy like you, I would suggest Alberta. Nice mix of prairies and close to the mountains also. Calgary has just been rated the 4th most livable city in the world. Property is a decent price after the boom and bust of the oil sands, great infrastructure, lower taxes, etc.

Avoid the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Unless you make more than 6 figures.

I have some property in northern Alberta, near Goodfare. Hit me up if you want some country land!

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
I'm in the market for a cabin in the woods where I can hunt and fish.

Suggestions?

We are planning to visit either Calagry or Vancover this spring summer. My wife is super excited, and so are the kids. I look to have about 18 months of school left, and with Canada starting a pro soccer league up there, I hope to time it pretty close.

Vancouver is going the route of several California cities. Lots of homelessness, ridiculously high priced property due to incredible demand. It is a city that caters to the rich.

A 1 bedroom, 600 square foot condo starts around $400K. To rent the same, about $1500/month. Plus, there are penalties and premiums now for foreign property buyers, because rich Chinese have been buying up multi million dollar properties with cash, then leaving them unoccupied 9 months of the year.

Hmm, perhaps I can tell you not to move to the areas my wife's family moved down to the US out of?
