Another possibility is that it's been really fucking cold here for a while. We have had only 1 day above freezing since the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It seems like every other night we have wind chill warnings with wind chills 20 to 30 below. This December has been similar to a below average January. I don't think too many people are thrilled about sitting 4 hours in wind chills below zero.

The last NFL playoff game to be blacked out was in 2001. Ya know the NFL doesn't want to miss out on those advertising dollars.
