Ever since the Heartbleed Bug I've finally gotten a little more serious about finally changing all of my passwords to random passwords and all unique for each site. Of course there's no way possible for me to remember all of them so I finally decided to get a password manager. I did a lot of research and settled on Dashlane. So far I love it. It's absolutely fantastic the way it integrates with my Mac and my android phone. It's decent on iPad, but not quite as good since there's no custom keyboard option on the iPads. The fact that you can change keyboards on the fly in Android allows for autopopulation of usernames and passwords within any application or browser on Anroid. For the iPad you have to use Dashlane browser to autologin or open the app and copy the password you want to use. A mild annoyance for a lot of security. The one catch is that if you want to sync across all devices it costs $29.99 per year. If you're interested in trying it out you can get 6 months free (and get me 6 months free) by signing up through this link.

Most Internet Security suites (Norton, McAffee, Kaspersky, Avast etc.) have an addon for that. I personally just keep my documents in a hidden folder in an encrypted excel doc.

I do the same with adding characters into the passwords that only I would know are fake. I also find using first letter from phrases helps.

I've used different passwords for everything for years. The fact of the matter is probably four of them I actually "need" to know off the top of my head, the rest I don't use frequently enough that looking them up bothers me.

I use several different methods for my passwords and just jot down the primer in a secure location or an obscure file to keep track of my passwords. One easy method, and one that can get you to use many letters, is to use phases or parts of songs or poems you know well. For example, one password I used was the first part of the Diff'rent Strokes theme song: NTwdM2tb0J1D. Thrown in a couple of numbers and it is easy to remember and easy to type. This lets me get in to the 24+ character range for my sensitive things, like porn sites.

Have a small bank account and a lot of debt. That's how I keep hackers away from my private info. Anyone who wastes their time hacking my shit? I get the last laugh. I'm more than happy to give my passwords out for any of my private info. Just ask.
